How many save the dates should i order?

rica, on February 18, 2018 at 2:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
We need about 90 invitations, but I don’t think it’s nevessary to get that many save the dates. For example, my 19 year old brother lives with my dad so I’ll send them two separate invitations, but it seems silly to mail them both a save the date when they are both quite aware of the date. This situation occurs a few times in our families.
Also, I let OOT guests know way ahead of time via phone call and they already have made travel arrangements. Do I need to send stds as a formality?
I’d really like to just get about 50 to send to local guests and only one per household. Is this okay?

If they live in the same house, I think its okay. However I would personally still get the same amount. For a family wedding on my fiances side, I didn’t receive a std or an invitation and neither did he, and he was in the wedding. I think it was poor etiquette because it was evident that we were invited, as we were highly involved, but I personally would have appreciated to have both a std and invite even though I was included in all of the wedding festivities (shower, rehearsal, etc.) so it was kind of odd and I know it wasn’t intentional. With all that being said, I would send out the exact same amount - you might have cousin or someone that really wants a save the date even though it might seem odd to send more than one. Also whereever you are ordeing might only have where you can order in 25 increments, and typically you can get a better deal if you go ahead and buy extra so why not go ahead and just get the exact amount.

I am ordering a save the date for everyone. Also sending it separately to cousins that are in their 20s as I’m giving them all plus ones or addressing it to their significant other as well. I just think it makes it more clear on who is exactly invited especially since everyone will be traveling for our wedding.

I did one per house and only to people I was very sure I would not want to cut from my guest list if the budget got out of hand. Ordered them from vistaprint with a 40% off coupon and was happy with how they turned out.

We did one for each address. For our save the dates and invites.

There is information you include in a Save the Date that is often not included in an invitation (website, hashtag, travel info). So I think it’s always worth sending a STD to everyone.

Also, the USPS isn’t as reliable as one would like... I had multiple guests who had received a STD call me because their wedding invite never showed up. So it’s also a good second touch for your guests.
