How many reception venues did you look at before you made a decision?

We looked at 4 yesterday ..... 1 more today and I have phone calls in to 3 other places to make more appointments. Thankfully we've kept up a pro / con list so they're not all running together. But am I crazy for looking at so many places?

We looked at two in one day and booked the second one.

At the first place, we met with a sales associate. Every time she showed us a new room, it was more money to use it! There were all these little things that drove us crazy about the venue (the seating was unbalanced for the ceremony, there was a random white tent at the edge of the ceremony space, etc.).

At the second venue, we met with the owner. He answered every question we had. We loved the location and the space. And he didn't lie to us, or stretch the truth. He showed us areas that were damaged by a storm and let us know what he was planning to do with it. We could tell that he really loved being there and doing this.

We actually visited earlier this week to get a feel for how it'll look for our wedding and the owner met with us again (even though we were already on the books!). Every time we meet with him, I'm even happier we booked the venue.

We never really visited any. The restaurant where we held the post-ceremony luncheon was one at which we had a lot of gift cards. The venue for the at-home reception was a club we were familiar with, and the owner was a friend. He made us a deal we could not refuse, and we didn't look anywhere else.

I sent out emails to about 20 places to get prices and find out what they included first. Then visited 4 places. Two didn't give details until day of appt and they were way out of budget. The third was within budget and exactly what I wanted but I would have to rent wine glasses and a few other things which come with most venues. Also the lady was pushy and kept insisting on picking the dishes she wanted. Finally we chose an all inclusive golf club venue. It comes decorated but we can add to it and we take our own cake (no cutting charges!), and get champaigne too since we dont want their dessert. Make sure to ask about food tasting since some ladies found out later that it wasn't included.

You'll know when you see it. We had scheduled tours for 2 venues, but the first one we looked at was just so awesome. We took a few days to sleep on it, but couldn't wait for the appointment with the second place for fear someone else would nab the place. I think we made an awesome decision, it's perfect!

I'm starting to feel like no place is perfect and that I might be too picky. I just want that "I LOVE this place" feeling and I haven't gotten that yet.

Your not crazy at all. I did all my homework before hand though. Most places have good pics online or I looked up previous weddings that had been photographed to try and tie in the complete look of the venues and then I made some appointments. I went to see my least two choices first and then the resort we picked last lol. We had already seen the glam online but we sort of figured when we get there it would be game over and it was :-) You will know when you find the place! My only advice, make sure its in your budget!!! Happy hunting!

I looked online at quite a few most out of our budget. We have 80 to 100 people invited. I want a dance floor/area and since we don't want a church wedding we need room for the ceremony too. We went to 6 places in person again most were outside our price range. Or had restirctions I didn't like. Our venue which we just found this past week is an old school. New to teh venue business but affordable, in the local area which my FH wanted and large enough I get everything I wanted. Plus only restictions is no glitter/cofetti and enclosed candles. we are doing the cleanup after so everything else is on how much we want to clean.

I had a couple appointments in one day and went to the first appointment and fell in love. I was willing to cancel the rest of my appointments because I was so sure that i LOVED the venue. My mom and MOH told me to go anyways and I still stuck with choice number one. I think when you know you just know... you shouldnt have to talk yourself into a place for your special day it should just feel right Smiley smile

I think I researched about 25 online. I called around for quotes and catering information. I had my heart set on a particular caterer. It's really difficult to find a venue with an open catering policy. I actually visited 4. FH was only excited about 1. Unfortunately for me, I didn't get to use my caterer, but I found another one who understood my vision. Keep looking until you find that perfect fit.

We looked at nine venues before we made our decision... We went with the 7th one that we saw - the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, and are so very happy with the venue so far!

We looked at 3 locations. I had fallen in love with each of the first 2 and thought it would come down to which was more affordable. However, the 3rd place was having an open house so we decided to check it out too. Go figure, we LOVED it and booked it that day (even better, it was the cheapest!).

I actually visited only 2 places, but I looked at over 100 different places online and sent e-mail inquiries to 20 different places. But I'm surprised that a lot of the places are not good at responding by e-mails even though they have it on there website for people to use.

We already had an idea in mind (out doors, public area) so that cut down on the number we checked out. Though we still have 7 on the list, We've seen 6 of them, and we have 2 great contenders.

We looked at about a dozen sites in person and created an Excel spreadsheet to create site comparisons. It's so easy with the Internet to compare without driving so much. Once we confirmed the site, we felt so much better! Can't wait for our Golf Club wedding!!
