How many photos come with your package?

CoffeeNColor, on November 3, 2016 at 8:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

How many photos are you supposed to get with your package? My BIL&SIL got about 1,300 photos from their wedding.

Some of the photographers I'm looking at say expect about 80 photos per hour of coverage, some say 100 photos per hour. Some just promise 400-700 flat.

What is reasonable?

I don't really understand why the number of photos even matters. I would be more concerned about getting high quality photos, rather than high quantity. My photographer doesn't promise any exact number of pictures but I am having two shooters so I'm guessing there will be a bunch. I cant imagine sifting through 2000 photos to pick the 500 I like the best, that would make me crazy!

Our package comes with 265 printed, and a cd of all images to reprint what we want

Definitely be concerned with quality over quantity. But I think 500-700 is good

It's important to focus on the quality of photos rather than a set number of photos. Final number of photos will vary based on a lot of factors... length of your event, pace of your event, number of people, etc. A photographer can give you an idea, like you said (80 per hour, 100 per hour, etc.), but listing a definite number of photos is not good practice. If you love the person's work and as long as they don't limit photos to maybe 100 or less (presuming you have a full day wedding/event), don't stress over the number of photos listed or not listed.

I definitely understand quality over quantity!

The reason for this post is because as I'm trying to compare apples to apples when looking at different photographers. there's so much lingo and different packages that it's tough to tell what is the best value. I thought 700 seemed low when my FSIL got 1300 fantastic photos in digital form. She and my FBIL then chose their favorites and got prints done.

800 photos in 3.5 hours but I think she'll take less on the actual day since there will be less going on. I'm super excited that the first 2 hours of that time will be our first look. Just gonna walk around our city looking like hot shit takin pics in from of graffiti and whatnot. Smiley laugh

We had two photographers for 8 hours, roughly 100 pics per hour.

My photographer said she usually gives the client around 800-900 edited photos.

ETA: That's for eight hours of coverage.

I think it depends a lot on how many shooters you have and honestly the price as well. We got about 600 edited photos, but didn't splurge that much on photography so we weren't even expecting that many. I did feel that our day was covered well through the 600 photos.

Ours doesn't come with a limit, they take as many pictures as they get so they focus on quality not quantity. But they said they never take less than 2000 (but that includes doubles, bad ones, etc) and then edit the best ones and we have printing rights to all of them.

My package doesn't have a specified number of photos, it just says "As many photographs as can be taken within time frame"

Most of the photographers I spoke to said they take an unlimited number of photographs, so it's just a matter of how fast one can click a button. I wouldn't worry about stuff like that unless they tell you they will only take 100 photos or something ridiculous.

My photographer said we can look at all the proofs, no matter how many, but it's unlikely that they would all be edited.
