How many people is appropriate while dress shopping?

Hanna, on December 21, 2019 at 11:10 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
I really want to have my 3 best friends, my mom, grandma, and stepmom there with me while dress shopping but I feel like 6 people plus me is a little much. All of these people mean a lot to me and I want them there but I'm torn. What do you think?

Less is better but no set rule. But some shops limit the amount of people so you should call and check.

Having worked at a bridal shop, 6 is too many. The energy and strong voices can overwhelm your own ideas. I’d suggest up to 4 total. I’d would do 2 stores, 1 trip with your family and 1 with your friends (if you find The One with friends you can bring your mom back—or whomever you want—to retry the dress and “say yes”).

If that's as many as you want, and the shop allows it, go for it. It will take longer. I went with just my mom and we finished our 2 hour apt in 45 minutes while the large groups got wrapped up in 2 hours whether they were done or not.

This is very helpful. Thank you. I'll narrow it down and maybe go twice. There are a couple shops I want to look at.

You can always take a few dress shopping and then a few others for alterations!

In my opinion, the fewer the better. I would reach out to the shops you plan to visit as well, most in my area limit you to 4 additional people.

I only brought my mom and FMIL. Originally I wanted all 4 of my bridesmaids, my mom and FMIL but decided against it. To me, the less the better.

I had my mom, MIL and sister and that was already a lot! Lots of opinions, mainly by my mom, but I’m glad it was just them.

From my experience, most bridal shops limit you to 2 guests but can make exceptions if you ask in advance.

Shops I went to limited to 7 people at the max. If you're party is bigger you need to request it when you call to set up an appointment - most places will accommodate.
