How many people are in your wedding party?

Last night I saw a video of one of my cousins getting married and it was beautiful for the most part. It re-lit my excitement about my own wedding and now I cannot wait for the next 398 days to pass. But one thing that I couldn't understand was the AMOUNT of people in her wedding party.

She had 1 Matron of Honor (which was supposed to be my title but thats another story) 10 Maids of honor, 15 bridesmaids, 4 Jr Bridesmaids, 4 flowergirls, and other folks that I really didn't catch what the point of them being in the wedding was. And then the numbers didn't match. While she had all these women standing up there were only about 6 men.

The wedding procession was sooooooooooo long I had to wake my niece back up so she could see the fairies. It was a beautiful ceremony but it just felt like overkill IMO.

So I was curious to know how many people are in your wedding party? Is it really necessary to have everybody you've ever known standing beside you on that day?

We are going to have 4 bridesmaids, 4 groomsmen and 4 smaller children and I honestly think I would have liked it smaller. The amount in your cousin's wedding does seem a bit extreme, but if that was important to her, then it's her choice. Honestly, the smaller you can keep the numbers, the easier getting everyone organized is and the lower you can keep other expenses. (Remember for all those people you need to make sure they order any outfits on time, that they all are on time for things on the day of, you should get them a gift for participating in your wedding AND you have to have them all at the rehearsal dinner.)

We have 1 Best Man, 1 Matron of Honor, 3 Bridesmaids/Groomsman, and both a Flower Girl and Ring Bearer, assuming they can fly back for it...

We could have major shifting right before the wedding because the Best Man is in the Air Force and the FG and RB are his children. They are moving to Okinawa in two weeks. The last we heard, he was cleared for leave, but you never know....So, we have 2 ushers just in case we need to bump them into the bridal party, and we won't have an FG or RB if they cannot come.

Um...that's outrageous. i have 2 MOH, 2 bridesmaids. FH has 1 bestman and 3 groomsmen. there will be 1 (maybe 2) flowergirls. and that's all. so 9 or 10 total. i couldn't even imagine buying flowers and gifts for 34 people.

Mine is 20 including FH and I, there's no set number, everyone's different. My friend had 14 guys and 14 girls and the last wedding I attended last year, I counted, there were a total of 42 people in the wedding party, so everyone do what they want. The only thing is the bigger the wedding party the more difficult it could be for group pics

I want 4 couples i( 1 MOH 1BM, 3 BM, and 3 GM), 2 flowergirls, 2 ring bearers (1 is our dog taking my ring to the groom lol and 2 ushers but they will not stand in the wedding.

Right now I may be considering just 2 girls the MOH and 1 BM, I don't like not matching the groomsman but I want girls in my wedding that I know will be there forever and I only have 2 really. I'm trying to decide right now.
