How many people actually showed up?

Arianna, on January 10, 2021 at 10:59 AM Posted in Planning 1 11
Hey ladies!! I’m a covid bride and my new wedding date is May 15th 2021 but with covid still out there my fiancé is wanting to postpone again when I really rather not. My question is for the ladies who already had there wedding during covid how many guests actually showed up? I’m sending out my invites within the next week or two and having a March RSVP by date so we have an estimate of how many people are coming/are comfortable coming. Thanks girls I’m advanced!!

We originally had 130 on our guest list but downsized to about 40 invites; 3 people RSVP'd no, and one didn't show up at the last minute because he was sick. Many of the people on our original list that could no longer be invited said that they wouldn't have felt comfortable coming, and supported our decision.

But this can also be heavily influenced by the type of crowd you're inviting and how they feel about the whole situation. Some people have had really high attendance, others have had 50%+ declines.

What type of venue will your event be held at? How many guests are you looking to invite? Are there any precautions/restrictions in place?

Hi Arianna! Agree with Eri on the factors and crowd aspects. Back in August 2020, invited 162 and 110 said yes and 104 attended. I had a rather cautious crowd, outdoor ceremony and reception, and lots of precautions in place. I made tons of phone calls to inform guests of precautions and answered lots of questions. I think my communication efforts worked in our favor as attendance goes. Hope this helps ❤️

Eri brings up some really good points! It totally depends on your guests and how comfortable they feel, but for guests on the fence about attending, you may be able to help them decide by providing a list of precautions you're planning to take. Is your venue outdoors and/or is there room for social distancing? Will masks be required and enforced? Is hand sanitizer provided? Are you limiting the number of guests invited? Will food be served via buffet, or plated? By providing these answers to your guests, it may help them decide one way or another on whether they feel comfortable attending your wedding.

That makes perfect sense we but our list but 30 people but we still have a high number right now. Our ceremony is outside and out reception is inside. There’s about 120 people invited right now. And it’s 50% capacity right now and we’re suggesting masks be worn at the ceremony and reception, there is hand sanitizer a on every wall and door way and we are putting a bottle on each table.

My best friend had her wedding late September 2020. And a lot of people showed up. I think she was expecting like 95 but in the end 80 showed up which is still a really amazing turnout during Covid

Hello there we had a destination wedding in riviera maya mx in November we invited about 60 people and 46 showed up so it was a pretty good turn especially traveling outside of the country. The family who didnt come didn't feel comfortable coming because of the virus and the rest of the guests did so it really just depends on how everyone feels about attending an event.
