Well I would pick what I like. Chicken or fish, beef is always good too.

Mashed potatoes, rice, or bread count as the starches (in most places)

Broccoli and corn would be the veggies I would pick.

I would definetly check out the meats because sometimes chicken or beef can come out very dry. I hope you have fun with a tasting!

I dont know if there is a limit, but I would pick 2 per person going to the tasting, that way you can all have 2 plates of stuff, and you can all taste off each others.

Did you ask them what the normal about is?

Well we are having our wedding at a holiday inn and so we assumed after spending a ton of $$ that we would get to taste a resaonable amnt of dishes, at least a chicken, beef , fish, vegetarian... then a couple of the hor d vers I mean we are feeding 200 people dinner so you would assume that you'd want to know what it tastes like right? Oh no our hotel said no way we will let you choose 2 entrees out of like 50 options and hopefully you like them cause thats what you get. I was so mad. Our planner at the hotel said its not really to try the food its to see how the chef prepares his dishes!! BS!! I was so mad. thankfully we loved what we tried but I told her I would let all my friends know how they jipped us, oh and to add to it they would only let us come between 12-2 during the week! hello arent most people at work during those hrs?Thankfully we work in the medical field so we had off but I mean come on.Hope yours is better we have friends who got to try almost everything they offered

Well normally they give you a menu and you choose from that. It's usually 2 main courses and about 4 or so hors d' oeuvres.

Thanks! Any other advice? Has anyone had any bad experiances with a certain type of meat when served to a lot of people? My mother said shrimp tends to not go well in bulk like that?
