How many hours for photography/videography?

Chanie, on January 14, 2020 at 7:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

My photographer and videographer have different packages 6 hour, 8 hour 10 hour coverage. I wanted to get the 6 hour package but I am not sure it will be enough.

My wedding will start at 2pm on a Sunday

We have the venue for 9 hours (not including set up 2 more hours). I wanted to have a few get ready photos and just the important parts of the day photographed/videoed. I have not set a clear timeline yet for the day. I had to cancel the day of coordinator that comes with the venue because she didnt speak English and we could not understand each other.

Do you guys think 6 hours is enough my photographer said he can do 7 hours as well instead of the 8 hr package.

We are doing an 8 hour package for ours. 2 hours before the ceremony for getting ready and first look and then leaving about hour and half before our reception actually ends most people will be leaving towards the end and nothing special going on so no reason to be taking more photos.

Always do more because you don't realize how fast 6 hours goes by. My aunt learned from that.

I think depending on what all you want photographed. we have our photographer for 10 hours. so that’s before the ceremony while getting ready and then for our send off!
it all depends on what you want photographed

We only have ours for four hours. She will arrive an hour before the wedding to get a few "getting ready photos" and first looks. We will already be all done up but she said we can easily fake zipping the dress and touching up lipstick. Our ceremony will last maybe 30 minutes. A one hour cocktail hour and then dinner is served. We aren't having any dancing or anything but instead a formal dinner. We feel four hours will be plenty to get the shots we actually want. Our guest list is so maxed at 29 so we aren't dealing with a massive crowd. I think you need to figure out what type of photos you actually want, what type of activities you have and go from there. An 8 hour photographer at our wedding would be a waste.

We had both of ours for 8 hours. 2 getting ready hours and 6 hours of the entire wedding.

As a former wedding photographer it all depends on when you want them there. If you are having a formal exit and want them there for that, work backwards. If you are okay with the main points of a reception and a little bit of dancing photos then start from the beginning if that makes sense. If everything is all in one place 6 hours is a stretch, 8 is usually ideal.

We hired ours for 6 hours. She will do getting ready photos and then stay until we cut the cake.
