How many guests at a table?

Katie, on May 20, 2018 at 10:03 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
At our reception, we have 6' round tables. At a couple tables, we have 11 or 12 seated. All
of the tables make sense with who is sitting with who, so I'm hesitant to separate any of the tables. Our planner/DOC said the tables "might be tight, but not terrible". I just don't want people uncomfortable/squished. Does anyone have experience with seating 12 guests at the size table/maybe some pics? Not sure if I should leave it or add a table.

The last wedding we went to had 12 people at that size table and it was actually really tight. It basically felt like we were on top of each other. Because of the amount of place settings/glassware at the table, it made it impossible for the women to put their clutches down on the table.

We have the same size tables and our venue said 10 is comfortable. I would add a table.

I've seen the set up for 12 at a 6' table and it looked too tight, even with no one sitting there. It can be done but won't be the most comfortable for your guests.

I would recommend adding a table. If someone came in to our hotel and wanted to do that they would be quickly talked out of it. Thats to many people at a very small table.

Alternatively if you don't want to separate people, ask your venue if they have a larger size table.

More than 10 at a 6 ft round is too many for comfort.

Many people have found ten at a table a more comfortable seating arrangement than twelve for that size table. Perhaps you could mock up a table to see what it would look like as you make your decision. Happy planning!

I have 60 inch tables and my venue coordinator said 8-10 sit comfortably. I think 12 people would be very tight. i will not go above 10.

We have 72 inch tables, not 60. Thanks though!

They didn’t. The first course was immediately served upon seating so chargers weren’t necessary.
