How many food options?

A, on January 14, 2020 at 6:19 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11
So I’m having a picnic lunch wedding (around 1 in the afternoon) and we decided we are going to serve sandwiches to keep with the theme. I wanted to do one vegetarian sandwich and one with lunch meat. Do you think I should do 2 meats and one veggie? I just know some people can be picky about what meats they eat (but then again, they could always just eat the veggie one). There will also be a buffet of sides.

So how many options should I have? How many do you have for guests?

I would contact the place you are looking to purchase from and ask them and they can guide you better. People will come hungry and may take at least 2-3 servings of something. I would have two meats because you know your crowd but if you only have a few vegetarians then I would not get too many veggie sandwiches. Turkey or ham is a safe bet.

I’m making it myself rather than working with a caterer. I was thinking the same about the veggie option though.

A self catered picnic wedding with meat sandwiches is very high risk for food poisoning. I would strongly caution against that.
If you must self cater I would not have any meat, dairy, mayo, fish, etc at all.

It’s 30 individually wrapped sandwiches; basically a class field trip. It’s not a hot month, and everything will be kept in a cooler and then distributed at mealtime

If it's only 30 I would get their choice with the RSVP. I'd probably give 2 meat options and a veggie option. I would offer turkey and either ham or roast beef.

I love this idea! A good vegetarian option could
Be a cucumber and dill salad sandwich 😋

I would do two meats for sure and one veggie. Some people don't eat pork or red meat so having one be ham or roast beef and another be turkey or chicken would be great!

That seems to be what most people are saying. I’m going to talk with my grandmother about it (she’s super opinionated with wedding food) but I think I’m going to do a ham and a turkey.
