How many dresses do i need for a western wedding.

Xiaorang, on May 19, 2021 at 7:27 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

I am not familiar with the traditional western wedding. Would you mind telling me that how many dresses should I prepare for a wedding. And what and when are they use for?

You only need one! Some brides get a second dress for the party, but this is optional.

A lot of brides have just one wedding dress for both the ceremony and reception. However, some brides choose to have a second dress that they change into after the ceremony for the reception - especially if the ceremony dress is a large, heavy ballgown that would make it hard to dance in.

    One Dress!

Although its optional as Jasmine mentioned you could do a dress for the ceremony and then change into something different for the reception

Generally one dress for the wedding, unless you change into a different one for dancing at the reception.

It's a 'thing' now to wear white cocktail dresses to bridal shower and bachelorette, but that's not necessary.

The vast majority wear one wedding dress for both ceremony and reception. Because it’s the only time in their lives they will be able to wear it. So make sure you can move comfortably in it.

A white dress for the rehearsal or shower is a brand new concept that not everyone follows.

I am assuming you mean as a bride. Please correct me if I am wrong.

It isn't customary to need more than one dress for a standard Western wedding.

Some women choose to have a separate reception dress, but that is by choice, usually because they really enjoyed a second dress or because their dream gown wouldn't be comfortable to be in all night. It is not required and does not have ceremonial value.

As PPs said typically it’s one dress worn all night, but you may find a dress that you absolutely love that you cannot dance in as well. The second dress would be for strictly dancing and typically be put on after cake cutting. but some will just have their ceremony dress and then immediately change before their ceremony into their second dress. But honestly, it’s your wedding and you can do whatever you want!

We should also mention that the typical "Western" wedding is a one day affair, typically afternoon or evening, only.

There are "pre-wedding" events that are traditional, a bridal shower (formerly gendered to the bride and women who would 'shower' her with household gifts, though this is changing rapidly), a bachelorette (a "last time I'm single" party for the bride and her close friends), a bachelor party (the original "last time I'm single" but for the groom and his close friends), and a rehearsal dinner, usually held the night before the wedding, where the bridal party gathers to go over their roles the next day, finalize details, and relax.

The first three parties are held in the months before the wedding. All four are OPTIONAL.

As everyone has said, one dress is typical. Large dresses can be bustled to allow for dancing and movement, and in many circles, a second dress is considered extravagant and/or show-offy.
