    Will they have access to their dinner tables? If so, you won't need as many. I would ask your caterer or rental company for what they recommend.

    What other seating options are available?

    Also, is this for cocktail hour or is your reception all cocktail?

    @annakay511 - Yes! Dinner tables will be accessible, but they won't be in the same area (if that makes sense)

    @VC - Dinner tables & a small "lounge" area will be closeby. These are just for the cocktail hour (sorry - I should have specified!!)

    Hi Natalie! We're expecting (hoping for) around 200 guests and will have 13 cocktail tables, 7 inside in the connected "bar room" and 6 outside on the patio. My planner and event rental company helped me with this, but I think they also considered the size of the venue space when figuring out how many cocktail tables there should be! Can you ask your venue what they've done in the past?

    @WWLynnie - Sadly, I cant Smiley sad

    The venue we've booked is run by an older man who only rents the building & knows nothing about weddings. Aka: as long as the check clears, he's happy.

    But your numbers have helped tremendously!!! Thank you!

    I have 175 for my wedding estimate and I'm going to have at least 5-8 tables. Not everyone is going to stand at a table. Most will mingle with each other.

    The most boring cocktail hours on the planet happen when everyone has a seat. Have some high tops to they can stand, some lounge furniture so they can perch and some 'real' cocktail tables. I'd plan on spots for 100-120.

    I'm having 4 that are going to be scattered around just for those who choose to stand. The outdoor Terrance has tables and the indoor space has furniture. I chose a smaller amount because my cocktail hour will be 30 minutes long

    I had a similar set-up - cocktail tables, but guests had access to their dinner tables so people used both during cocktail hour. Many guests will go right to their tables, put their purses down, and then go get drinks and use the dinner tables as "home base" during cocktail hour. We only had 4 cocktail tables for 130 guests!

    Also, please change your avatar to something other than the generic rings (the avatar is not the same as the background pic on the app). That helps us get to know you from other new members (but it doesn't have to be a picture of your face, if you want to remain private). The generic rings are also associated with spam/trolls, so changing it will help you get more responses. Here's how: Settings > Profile and Privacy Settings > Account Image > Change Image > Upload > Update Profile Settings. This has to be done on a computer OR can be done on your phone if you go to WW with safari.

    I would get enough tables to sit each guest at cocktail. I went to one wedding where there was no tables and I hated having to hold my plate and nowhere to put my drink down.
