Tell me your guys' wedding cake adventure.

So I've been to three so far. The first lady had good cake, but she wasn't able to do color. I asked about navy fondant and she said no. Then I asked about pink. She said pink buttercream turns white really fast. So I knew she was out when we left. (Free tasting)

The second lady was super nice and the tasting setup was like a dream tea party. Her buttercreams were delicious. I know she could have given us a beautiful looking cake, but her 3 cakes were a bit dry. FH didn't think so, but he doesn't eat cake much, and I really think he was just swayed by the honey vanilla cake. He loves honey stuff. I was too embarrassed to ask about the cakes being ..not so moist. ($35 tasting)

I just had my third tasting. This lady's cake was so soft. The fillings were so good. She even let us taste a sample of the previous appt's choice, which was Megan Markle's cake. It was lemony. FH didn't like it. I thought it was good, just a different type of cake texture. Not like her other 4 samples. (Free tasting)

The fourth tasting has been scheduled for weeks now. This young lady has reviews that say her cake is so good too. That she uses her grandma's recipes. And she also makes desserts and grooms cakes. I am looking forward to her too. ($50 tasting for each, dessert and cake)

Also, would it be wrong if I have Third Tasting make my wedding cake and if I like the Fourth Tasting, have her make groom's cake and desserts? I think it would be awkward if they both see each other at the same time.

I had tried our bakers cake at a bridal expo. So when I knew hubby was going to be in town, I scheduled the tasting. She was the only one I was interested in booking. Hubby literally cleared the plate haha. He loved it as much as I did so we booked her on the spot and made our deposit. She runs her business out of her home which helps keep her costs down. 2 tier wedding cake, 2 tier grooms cake, and 6 dozen cupcakes for less than $500.
