How many bottles of wine should i have per table

I'm going to have 7 guests per table. The wine is basically to compliment their food but not necessarily for guest to be drinking the whole 5 hours. Ideally I would like each guest to have at least 4 glasses of wine. Think I will have catering staff serve this in case I have some heavy handed...

Is it just a new thing to get a thank you gift (and expect one) and then tell someone that “it’s not good enough, I want more”.

I’m sorry but not everyone’s wedding is the same. And not everyone’s crowd is the same. I’m so tired of people saying “that’s not enough for your guests”. Maybe it wouldn’t be enough for YOU. But none of you know joeys guests or what they like.

Oh and this is HER wedding. Yes she has a SO and it’s HIS wedding as well. But that doesn’t make it any less hers 😂 and it’s definitely not YOUR wedding, so you may want to stop dictating how she wants it, because she makes the final decision. Not you.

To answer your question though, if you have 7 guests per a table, and you want each to have 4 glasses of wine you would need 7 bottles (750ml) per a table (as that’s 35 glasses, 4 each).

Ok, well then, one bottle of wine = 4 glasses, so by your mandate, you'd need 7 bottles per table, or one per person.

Thank you sweetie. The nerve of some folks. Thank you for understanding. I don't come into forum topic and mandate what people should do at their wedding. I say "I would suggest", "perhaps you may want to consider" but at the end of the day people can do whatever they want. They know their friends, they know their relatives, they know their fiance, so who I'm to say what someone should or should not do at their wedding that they're paying for. I don't care what wedding protocol is, I'm going to do what works for me and my fiance and we know the people we will be hosting at our wedding.

So each 750ml bottle of wine has roughly 5 glasses of wine, BUT that’s if the pour is only 5oz and most weddings I’ve attended pour more than that. I would do one bottle per person, and I would do both red and white for variety.

Thanks Sarah. Something to consider. I initially thought 30 bottles, but 50 might be better. I'll assume some people will not drink a full bottle. Some of the women I invited who I know pretty well won't drink a full bottle and 3 don't drink any alcohol at all. I will also have sparkling cider unless you have a better suggestion for a nice non-alcoholic beverage.

I actually like the 1 bottle of wine per couple suggestion, that should be plenty in my opinion. Not everyone will drink 4 glasses of wine, but maybe some will drink 4. It’ll balance it out. I think planning for 4 glasses of wine is plenty. To be honest if you over buy, you can use the extra wine as gifts throughout the year if that makes sense.

Perhaps you want to consider having one beer option, I don't drink wine nor does FH & we would both probably be unhappy sitting there drinking water/soda.

Great suggestions. I never mentioned having the wine on the table, folks just assumed. I like the idea of wine stations with the wine already poured or wait staff there to pour it. Appreciate it, you got me thinking now.

I thought about beer for a second and I see your point. However, I know my guests and I feel confident there won't be anybody there who doesn't like wine. There will be a few people there who won't drink at all and I'm thinking I need to have a nice non-alcohol option. It's a small wedding with only 55 guests. Now if I was having 100+ guests -- yes, I would do beer option.

Makes sense! I thought about that too, we could always use it for the holidays since the wedding is in September. Smiley smile
