How long

Kristen, on August 22, 2019 at 9:40 AM Posted in Planning 1 42
Hey future mrs! I want to know everyone’s proposal story’s and how long do you have left of your until you are married to your best friend! My fiancé and my family involved. My older brother passed away when we happened to be really young. Cody went to my parents and asked for my hand in marriage and asked to do it at my brothers grave. Of everyone said that it was a great idea and a perfect way to make sure all of my siblings had been involved. I was helping my dad and brother clean the garage out and when my mom came home she FREAKED out. I kind of had a feeling what was going on. She was wondering how I broke my thumb acrylic off. I always have nice looking nails. I try to keep them looking good. Anyway she told me that we are going to take family pictures. So everyone needed to dress up. We went to my brothers girlfriends graduation party and I knew something was fishy. While I was getting ready I heard Cody freaking out and sweating pretty bad. He was on the phone with I want to say my mom. It had started to down poor and it wasn’t supposed to stop at all. Well we still went. And as soon as we turned to head towards Colten’s grave it stopped raining. That’s when I got all my tears out. Was when we turned. When Cody asked me of course I was shocked but no tears happened. They had left just minutes before. As soon as I said yes we rushed to the store he got it at. He wasn’t going to ask my until a few weeks later but he couldn’t wait any longer so we had to send it into get sized to my finger. Now we have 93 days left and I can not wait to say I do. It’s happening so so fast. Enjoy it but don’t get super stressed. If you have to change things up do it. It’s your day and your lovers day. No one else should have a say or question what you have planned for your special day.

That was so sweet of him to involve your family like that! We got engaged a little over a year ago in Disney World at a meet & greet with my favorite character, Rapunzel. He kept putting off going to that meet & greet until my brother got to the park to go together. I didn’t know he had asked my dad and told our immediate families and best friend weeks before and I was completely oblivious. No tears for me either, just shocked, quiet, is this real life kind of deal. We are now 29 days away and have so much left to do! Lol

Your story is so sweet!! It was my FHs birthday party! We just got a new house, so I had spent the whole week, cleaning and staining floorboards and finishing painting walls and such to make the house look nice . I decorated it as well it was Christmas time and his birthday(he travels for work and was out of town the whole week so he couldn’t really do anything). I went out two days before and bought a bunch of food to make and even made him cupcakes! Morning of I finished decorating and I made food for everyone. They started arriving and we had a great time. Some people were really ready for presents, I figured they were really excited for what they got him/ ready to go but wanted to see presents first. So we did cake and then presents and he got to his last present and he was super excited. He opened it and said “oh wow this is gonna be awesome” then he dropped down and said “ Abby... will you marry me?” I immediately said “ohhh why would you do that” I was bawling like I baby I could barely even mutter out the word yes! I was so excited. We were surrounded by our friends it was amazing. (I had asked for no family except my grandparents as normally family bickers when other family is there but not them and I didn’t want to hear it.)
after he proposed and I got over crying we FaceTimed my grandfather and grandmother (who are my fav people. My FH even asked my grandfather if he could marry me. That’s how much they mean to both of us) and surprised them! My grandmother was getting her hair done and stopped the appt for a min so she could come over and see why my grandfathers eyes were tearing up. It was amazing. I couldn’t ask for a better best friend, fiancé, roommate, listener, and just a wonderful man over all. I am so lucky to have him. And I am SO excited to marry him. He is wonderful. Sorry for gushing about him I just don’t get to do it often and I love talking about him. We have 158 days left!! 154 till we leave for Hawaii! ❤️😍💍 soooo excited

That's super special. I helped design my ring, so it wasn't really a surprise proposal, except that FH held on to it for almost 6 months before he finally proposed! I came home from an out of town meeting on my birthday, and our dog met me at the door to give me a hug, which is the everyday norm. Except this time she had my ring tied around her collar! We're down to 44 days!

Your story is very touching! FH and I met 9 years ago, ran in the same circles the whole time but didn't really get to know each other all that well. Last summer (July '18) he asked me out on a date and everything changed! He proposed March 14, 19 on our favorite bench at the park we spent many evenings at, and we have 8 days left until I do!!

That is a really great story. Sounds like he put a lot of thought into it Smiley heart

We were on a trip celebrating our 2nd dating anniversary. Cabin in NC. He was making breakfast/brunch as I woke up and then took a shower. He had made French toast and it looked amazing. After a couple of bites he got down on his knee and said "I dont know how to do this, will you marry me?"

It was so sweet and intimate. No idea he was going to do it on that trip. We waited a day before telling anyone. Stayed in our bubble as long as possible.

    Only 44 days to go!

My FH and I had been dating less than 2 months, but I knew he was The One, and vice versa. We woke up the morning of April 2 and he said, "I know what I want to do today, I'm going to go buy you a ring and propose to you. What do you think of that?" We had discussed getting engaged at the 6 month mark, but he didn't want to wait any more. So I said it sounded fine to me, just thinking he was kidding around, but in fact he put my daughter in the car and they drove to the jewelry store we had identified and bought a ring! I made him promise to wait till we hit the 2 month mark on April 4th, which he promised to do. So on April 4th, he picked me up after work, and when I got in the car, our favorite love song was playing, and we drove to the restaurant where we had our first date. They have a sweet little indoor area with a huge tree and a stream running down the middle of the room, and he got us a seat underneath the tree right next to the stream. We had a lovely dinner and then he handed his camera to the waitress and got down on one knee and read me a poem he wrote and then he asked me and showed me the ring. Of course I said yes, and the whole restaurant cheered. It was very sweet. We just went back for our 6 month anniversary and the waitress remembered us and asked if we'd gotten married yet Smiley smile They are building a new event center, but unfortunately we didn't know at the time!! Still have ten months to go. Can't wait!! Smiley heart

Ahh, that’s so sweet! My fiancé proposed to me Christmas Eve (I LOVE Christmas). We first met at my mother’s house. (Back story: my parents got divorced. My mom bought her own house which I lived in with her. 2 years later they got back together, remarried, and she moved back in with my dad. So when this happened the house was empty because she was trying to sell it.) My mother calls me and asks me to stop by the empty house because she had a gift shipped there for my brother and she needed me to pick it up. So we go and on the way my fiancé starts talking about the house and how it was where we first met and our memories there. I didn’t think anything of it. We go in the house and into my room and there’s strings of Christmas lights. I’m oblivious and just thought they were left there from when it was my room. I literally say “ooo my lights are still up!” So I’m looking around and I can’t find any package. Fiancé is behind me and I hear him get down on the ground and it finally clicked in my head what was happening. Hahaha. It was so sweet and perfect and intimate. The funny part is, we had picked out and purchased my engagement ring in November so I knew he was going to be proposing sometime soon. I still was totally surprised.

That sounds so sweet, I'm glad your entire family was there to support you in that moment. I wish you joy and peace as you plan.

Mine is a terrible, tacky story but I love it. I knew she wanted to propose but I also wanted to propose, I just didn't know when or how. She's really bad at keeping secrets from me so I knew if I did it she wouldn't have to. We were on our way to Florida for vacation and to introduce her to my parents. We stopped at THE tackiest place on earth for breakfast, South Of The Border, and had an absolute blast in one of the gifts shops just goofing off like we do. I don't know if anyone knows the place but there's this big figure they call Pedro and some have taken to signing the figure over the years. She laughingly asked if I wanted to put our names on it and said she had a sharpie in the car. I knew in that moment I was going to ask. When I finished I turned around to face her while she read it. Her face was priceless. "Oh, OH, YES!" was all she said. I kind of thought she didn't really take it seriously until that night when we got to our resort. She said she was surprised because she was planning something too. I felt bad about that so we actually proposed back and forth to each other the entire vacation. She even got down on one knee on the bridge by Hogwarts castle at Universal. We now joke that we would marry each other every day, and since we're having 2 ceremonies, we are a little bit. We are 48 days from our private legal ceremony, and 50 from our handfasting with family and friends.

My FH proposed to me on our boat. Had me pull in the line & the spoon read "Will you Marry Me?". He was behind me on 1 knee. We have 29 days. Feel pretty prepared tho. Just some last minute "check in" calling.

First - that is a beautiful story. I love that your FH had that idea to have it at your brother's grave.

As far as my story - it is a bit less romantic. Me and my FH had talked about getting married and i had mentioned that if he was to propose, if he would do it in September so it was close to my late Grandmothers Birthday.
Apparently, he couldn't wait - he was soo excited to propose and marry me. We were shopping and he sent me to go get nee sheets for home (even though we had a ton). Fast forward 2 hours, his friend comes over the house and we are all talking and then my FH turns to me and asks me to marry him. He didnt wait to get the ring resized (he already knew my ring size) or anything. I said yes, i was happy that he proposed but he could see I was less than thrilled. When his friend left, we talked and I told him it felt rushed and a proposal is supposed to be a special moment. We went the next day to get the rings resized. I still didnt tell my family - I was trying to come up with the best way to tell them since we are super close and I had always hoped they would be a part of the special moment.
A week later he tells me that we are going to Coney Island to see the fireworks with my family. Given that my mom doesnt like him - I had a feeling he was going to re-propose. My mom eneded up not being there but - it was absolutely perfect. My aunt, uncle and close friends were there - he proposed in the middle of the firework show. It was everything you could imagine for a special moment. I cried, it was beautiful - we went out for celebratory drinks and food. My uncle caught the whole thing on video - and it was the first time it felt like a real proposal. My friends and family don't need to know about the botched orig. Proposal, the second one is the only one that counts in my book, and will be the only story told to everyone I know personally.

We are now planning for a sept. Wedding in 2021 - completely outdoors and a throwback to the roaring 20's. My FH has been hands on with the wedding planning - it has been wonderful.

That is so precious!! My FH proposed to me on my very first cruise. It was us and his parents. They invited me as a college graduation gift for the both of us. They had asked me to pack something formal because they have Captain's night. It was the 2nd night on the cruise and we were all dressed up and went to dinner. After dinner, my FH wanted to take photos on the top deck. It was so cold I was shivering!

He took photos of his parents first and then it was our turn. I was still shaking and he asked me "Are you really that cold?" and I was like CLEARLY lol. He said "Maybe this will warm you up" and that's when he dropped to his knee and long and behold his parents were recording the whole thing. It's funny because it really did warm me up. I stopped shaking and completely forgot I was cold to begin with. We have 350 days left until our wedding Smiley cry but it'll be worth the wait!

That was so sweet of your FH to include all of your family members-but here on Earth and in spirit.

It was the night before our trip to CA to visit FH's family and he suggested meeting at our favorite restaurant to celebrate. It was also our first big solo trip and my birthday was in a couple of days. At first I refused because I still needed to pack and get our dogs ready to drop off at my parent's house. My dad calls and says he's got my boys and to go out to dinner.

To set the scene, this restaurant is on the water and has a beautiful 20s/30s style to it. Vintage art déco posters, Tiffany lamps, etc. There is also an event room style to look like a classic library, and I've always wanted to have dinner in there. (Shout out to my fellow booknerds!) My FH made a reservation and asked if we could be seated in the event room... no problem. We're having dinner, and wouldn't you know it a wedding rehearsal dinner is seated right next to us! Smiley xd Smiley xd Smiley xd

After dinner we got outside to walk the waterfront and enjoy the nice fall evening. We start talking about the trip and what we're looking forward to doing. (Harry Potter World, obvs!) My FH proceeds to get down on one knee and says, "I think this might be your favorite moment..."

Cut to me giggling like a dufus and saying "Yes!" before he could even finish popping the question.

And 106 days until I probably mess up my vows too lol.

My FH proposed at home on a Friday night. We were going out of town the next day to visit friends. I knew he had a ring, because we picked it out together. I had a feeling it was going to happen that weekend. But that day was awful at work and I was falling asleep on the couch after dinner, he made my favorite dinner too. He kept trying to keep me awake. Then he got down on one knee in our living room and asked me to marry him. I was so awake after that! We are 386 days away.

    Congrats!!

Me and my fh had been together for about 4 years and he felt he hadn't had any pics with his daughters (from a previous marriage) and us together so he set it up for us to take pics. He set this up for an outdoor scenery shoot in the middle of March in Chicago, Il 😱 so if you know anything about Chicago, you know it's gets extremely cold! But anyway, me and the girls put on our big girl panties and did it to make him happy. We tried so hard to make the shoot quick. So at one moment the photographer told us she wanted a few pics of just me and him so I'm primping myself to make sure I don't look too cold and figuring out more poses. I then realized he was taking extremely too long to come take the pics (he was on the sidelines with the girls putting coats and bags to the side). I was freezing so I was about to chew his head off about taking too long and as I turned around to say something, he was walking towards me with the most beautiful ring I have ever seen!!! I was so surprised!!!!! I thought we would never get married lol it was a magical, but cold day. But after that excitement, I no longer felt any cold. 😊 Here are a couple of pictures from that day.

P.S. the photographer was in on it so she made sure she picked the best moment to make it happen.

    How long 1

    How long 2
