How long will your entire wedding be & dance questions!!! Please respond! :)

Ana, on June 19, 2017 at 3:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

I think I may have posted before asking how long your dancing portions were but only received a couple of responses. I would really like to know how long your wedding was or will be from start to finish & how many hours you will have for dancing??? Right now we have 2 hours for dancing & I'm worried that might not be enough.

Thank you! Smiley smile

From start of my ceremony to when the last person leaves at the reception, mine will have 8 hours of time go by. That includes the travelling from the church to the reception, and cocktail hour, etc.

Also, two hours may not be enough for dancing. My wedding will be having 3 hours probably.

Our time line looks like this

    5:30-6:30 dinner

    6:45 dance floor opens

7:30 cake served but people do not have to clear the dance floor

    7:40-7:45 longest couple dance

    7:45-9:45 dancing

    10:00 sparkler exit

    So 3 hours dancing total

Yes I was worried 2 hours may not be enough. :/ Oh & I wanted add, not sure that it'll make a difference, that my entire wedding (6 hours) will take place at the same venue. From 4:30-10:30 as of right now with a cocktail "hour" (45 minutes).

I would love to extend my hours but I'm also worried people will be tired by then because they have a 30 minute drive back home..

Are you referring to the reception?

    Six hours, four were dancing.

Then two more additional unofficial were holding up the bar (We left about 2am, there were still guests there).

@Nonna yes I wanted to know how long everyone's entire wedding event was & how much time they had for dancing during the reception portion as well. That is awesome!!

    I had 5 hours total.

    30 minutes for ceremony

    1 hr for cocktail hour

    3.5 hours for reception

You figure about an hour for dinner and all that stuff, so that would have been 2.5 hours for entertainment.

Take out another 30 minutes for dessert break/cake cutting.

And, that would be 2 hours for general dancing/socializing.

No one danced at my wedding, but H didn't expect anyone to dance (daytime wedding).

Our ceremony was from 7-7:30pm, cocktail hour 7:30-8:30pm, reception from 8:30pm-12:30am. There was at least 3.5 hours of dancing.

I would say we also had at least 3+ hours for dancing, probably closer to 3.5-4. Our timeline was:

    Ceremony: 5:15 - 5:45

    Cocktail Hour: 5:45 - 6:45

    Reception: 6:45 - 11:15

We are having a Catholic wedding with full mass, plus some added extras since we are involving Mexican culture. The mass will be an hour or a little over. Cocktail hour will follow immediately at venue and dinner will start at 5pm. BP intro and couple intro will start between 6-6:30, follow by all dances and such. I believe actually dancing will be from 8pm-midnight. I still have six months to figure this out, but just a rough draft.

    My timeline:

    6-6:15pm - Ceremony

    7:00-8:00 dinner

8-10:30pm - Parent dances, cake cutting and dancing.

    About 2 hours total.

Ours is tighter with less time for dancing than I would like, but it is what it is. It's one of the reasons we're having a welcome dinner instead of a rehearsal dinner—it gives us more time to socialize with guests since the wedding itself is short.

    Timeline

    6:30 - 7 cocktails

    7-7:45 ceremony

    7:45 - 8 venue flip/cocktails/photos

    8-9 dinner

9-12 - spotlight dances, cake cutting, general dancing

With the spotlight dances, chance that dinner will go long, cake cutting, and bouquet toss, I figure we'll have about 2 hours for general dancing. I wish we had 3 Smiley sad

    5pm - Ceremony

    5:30-6:30 - Cocktail Hour

6:30-11 - Reception, Dance floor opened at 8:30

We had about 2.5 hours of uninterrupted dancing (no bouquet/garter toss, had already cut the cake and finished all special dances and toast). I would have opted for a longer reception and more dancing time, but bars in our wedding location close early and we wanted to leave enough time for a quick after-party!

We have the venue from 5pm to midnight.

We're figuring ceremony over no later than 5:30

    Uninterrupted food until 6:30

Speeches until no later than 6:45

    Dancing 6:45-10:30

Piano bar (if our pianist's health issues are over) 10:30-11:45

If pianist is still sick and we can't find someone with her skill set, dancing will continue until 11:45!
