How long do you plan to spend getting ready?

IdahoBride, on July 26, 2017 at 11:38 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

How much time did you put into your wedding timeline for getting ready? If your photographer is coming do you tell them the last 30 minutes or so?

I just got a quote back from my makeup/hair stylist and it blew me away how much time she quoted for getting ready. Are your bridesmaids/mom's getting hair and makeup too? We have two bridesmaids and my mom, FH mom and she plans on being with us from 10 a.m-3:00 p.m. (with assistant).

I have 2 stylists doing hair & airbrush makeup for me, my 2 sisters, and my mom. My stylist has asked to allot 4 hours total for this. We are not having our photog with us during "getting ready" so I don't have anything to add on that.

I have four hours set aside for everyone to get hair and makeup. Me, five bridesmaids, two moms, and possibly a grandma. There will be one gal doing hair, and two doing makeup. They say that's enough time, but of course I'm semi freaking out already.

Had to be ready by noon to travel to first look location.

6:30am MUA arrived (for 5 of us)

    8am Hair

    10am photographer arrived

The photographer spent two hours at the house we rented taking photos of all our dresses, us getting hair and makeup done, me getting dressed, and capturing a lot of candid moments. I don't think 30 minutes is enough.

We didn't do a first look, and my ceremony started at 11:30. We started hair and makeup at 7:00 a.m.

I should have specified sorry. We're not having a wedding party and my mom doesn't want it so it will be just me. Smiley smile

I was scheduled for 2.5 hours for hair and mu. Seems crazy to be since we have a trial run the day before, but I'm going with it. I'll have about 90 minutes afterward to get dressed..

2 hrs for hair. We have appointments at a salon. 2 girls at 10 and the other 2 at 11. Couldn't get all of us at the same time unfortunately. Makeup probably 1-2 hours. We can just hang out and drink mimosas or some other wedding type activity if we have extra time lol

Just me here, too; hair is scheduled for 1.25 hours, makeup for an hour.

I figure it will take me 30 seconds to throw on the dress and shoes after that!

We're having a first look at our place so we can get pics with the dog, and the photographer is meeting us there, which means no official getting ready pics.

(But I've been going to the same stylist for a decade, and I'm throwing on the dress at my bridesmen's house, so I'm guessing they'll take some unofficial ones!)

I had myself, 3 BM and my mom getting hair and make up done. We had one artist doing hair and one for makeup. we started at 830am and finished around 1230. we hung around the hotel room eating, drinking and relaxing in our robes until the photographer came at 130 to do detail shots of dresses, shoes, us getting ready. We were out the door around 220 for first look. I thought it was just the right amount of time. Didn't feel rushed at all and nice relaxing time.

my cousin had herself, 6 BM and her mom with 2 doing hair and 1 doing makeup. she started at 730am and I think we left the house around 1 or 130 for the church.

Photographers are generally great a giving timeings. Our said work backwards, so take your ceremony time, are you doing first look or going straight in. There are generally a few photos taken of you arriving outside etc factor time for that. Then how long does it take to travel to venue, that will tell you when you want to leave by, give yourself a fews mins to physically get in the car! Do you want some chill time before leaving, Are you doing photos when you are ready at home? If so the photographer will tell you how long it will take. That give you a time to be ready by, then give yourself a while physically get in the dress, shoes, jewellery etc. Could take 15-30 mins depending on your dress. That then tells you when you need to have hair makeup done by, how long did your hair and makeup tell you you would need? Then go back by that. Don't forget breakfast! My time line from what I remember was, ceremony was at two, arrived at 1.45 (photos is me the girls, me and dad, me getting out of car etc), left the house at 1.40. The photographer left my house at 1pm to take photos of the guys at the venue. 12.15 I was in the dress that took 15 mins or so the photographer got pictures of that. Then she took pictures of me in the dress, walking down stairs, with my family, with the girls etc. Photographer arrived at 11.30. Took random pictures. I was ready hair makeup by 11 had a great fry for breakfast that my brother made! 9.45 I arrived back to my house from hairdressers , the Mua was just finishing the bridesmaids nails, she then started my face then did the two girls and my mum. All makeup done by 12. Went to hair salon for 8.30 am they said it would take 45 mins, took and hour but I gave the time. We had 4/5 people for all of us, my two bridesmaids, my mum, my mil. The mothers had a slightly later appointment than us, the bridesmaids were finished before me,they left went back to the house my mum drove me home.

My H/MU began at 10:30am. My photographers and cinematographers showed up between 2-2:30pm (I also had my mother and MOH getting H/MU done as well).

I didn't need/want pics of me without makeup (woof). I wanted them to capture the finishing touches.

eta: I hired a DOC, so I didn't have to worry about creating the timeline. She did it for me.

Our HMUA will be there with her assistant from 11:00-4:00 to cover for me, my three bridesmaids, and mother for my 5:00 PM wedding. We are asking our photographers to get there at 4:00 since I'm not big on getting ready photos. That way we have an hour to do pictures with bridal party to cut time spent after the ceremony taking pictures.

I'm dreading this since I'm probably going to have a huge BP and I'm thinking there will be at least 5 of us getting hair and makeup done.

Hi @JJ! Sorry, just seeing this.

The only thing I had to tell her was when I had the first location booked (it was a botanical garden and you needed to get a permit and they dictated when you could be on premises). She had that info, along with the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception times and she took it from there! She was a godsend!!!

eta: she used her knowledge of how long photos, h/mu usually takes to determine the timeline

We had a 530 ceremony. We got to the venue at noon to set up. H/MUA for four BMs started with them at 1, and had them done at 4. My h/mua did me from about 2 to 430 with breaks for bathroom and excitement, lol.

Our reception ended at 11 and we had our photographer for eight hours, so he came at 3. I love having those photos of us getting ready and giggling together Smiley smile

30 minutes. Everyone calls me the fireman, I get done way before everyone else. My FH will take an hour or more. My bridesmaids will do their own makeup before they come over and they only take about 30 minutes too.
