How long did it take to plan your wedding?

Natalie, on January 29, 2019 at 2:31 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 20
I got engaged in November and I’m getting married in July. People are always surprised to hear we will have the wedding in less than a year. My cousin planned a wedding in 2 months. So curious to see how long it took you to plan the wedding

I got engaged almost 3 years ago, but I started planning for our March 2, 2019 wedding in Nov 25, 2018. So in about 3 months time, I've been able to get all my ducks in a row. If you know what you want and you're organized, it's super easy! Smiley smile

Our whole engagement is 19 months long, I started planning 18 months out. It was just a lot easier for 200+ people to have a lot of time to plan.

It took me only 3-4 months to plan. I always Found it unique how people need at least one year because birthday parties, corporate parties, etc seem to get planned within a few months or less.

We got engaged at the end of July and are getting married the first weekend in May, so our timeline is about 9 months. It's not been bad. I feel like most of the big decisions happened very quickly after choosing a venue, then we were able to chill out for a little while, now we're back into it a little more because we're about 3 months out. I had a friend who got engaged two days after me and got married on new years eve. It can definitely be done on a shorter timeline.

Our engagement was a total of 14 months, almost to the date. The wedding itself, however, was maybe about 9 months-ish of planning? Booked our venue right away, but there was nothing else planned for a few months, so I guess around 9 months in total. And our wedding was pretty traditional - big, 200 person party, ballroom style reception, the works.

We got engaged 8/2/18 and we'll be getting married 8/10/19. Any sooner and we would have not been able to afford the wedding we want.

Our total engagement will be about 16 months, but majority is alread planned for September. The extra time is helping with the funds more than the actual plans I think. Plus lower stress.

The planning part is quick and easy, but it is the financial part that takes time to accomplish. If I didn't need to save any money, I could have had the wedding a few months after getting engaged but I needed that year to save up for it.

All in all if our date goes to plan Jan 2020, we would be at 2 and 1/2 years of engagement/planning technically! I'm very thurough and money was hard so I'm having plenty of time to research and take breaks if I get stressed!

Planned in about 2 months, but we had an 8 month engagement. The last couple months I wasn't doing much though.
