How long did it take for you to decorate your venue?

Madison, on January 10, 2019 at 6:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
Hey everyone! My wedding is November 23, 2019 in the Grand Ballroom of my University. Unfortunately, the ballroom is booked the day before our wedding, and we won’t be able to decorate until 8:00 am on the morning of the wedding. The venue provides a disco ball, white linens, glassware, China, etc. and sets up the tables and chairs for us, including the head table and food/ dessert tables. We were thinking we’d decorate with big floral centerpieces and candles. Basically, I’m asking how long it took you all to decorate your venues! Worst case scenario, my father and my fiancée can help the morning of before they get dressed. What do you all think?

I had my florist and DOC set up the flowers and candles. It took them a few hours. The venue set up the tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and accent tables. I highly recommend hiring a DOC who will help with all this.

We had to arrange all tables and chairs ourselves (13 tables, 100 chairs). We put on tablecloths, table overlays, chair covers, chair sashes. Did floral centerpieces surrounded by votive candles. Put wine glasses at each place. It took about 10 people 2 hours to get it all done properly, .....but we were a bit dawdly due to having all night to do it.

This is what I’m guesstimating so far...

venue will start setting tables and chairs, chair covers, sashes, and runners only at open: they have to have it done by 11 but I’m hoping they get decent start while we’re setting up breakfast and bar for anyone hanging out or helping decorate

Actually I’m hoping no one books dec 1 because I’m sure they would set up Sunday if possible so we’re not all trying to work

contract is 11-11 but they’re willing to let us in early and go until 1130 for cleaning

We actually got the other party to move their meeting to another room, so it sounds like we may have the situation fixed! Thanks for all the advice!
