How late is too late to plan a honeymoon

Monica, on February 4, 2020 at 1:08 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11
Im thinking of honeymooning in Mexico. My friend has her travel license and my sister has a timeshare. The wedding is April 4th, we will not be honeymooning right away I was hoping for last week of April to early or mid May (anytime between those weeks). Thats like 2.5mo to plan. Is that enough for something international?

This is so not like me. Im usually planning way ahead of time but with everything going on Im not even interested in taking the time to plan honeymoon (bridal shower was Jan 25th, my daughters birthday is in a few weeks, then the wedding) But I know we are kinda last minute cus it’s international.
So lets say I plan to book everything by The end of the month. Is that enough time or too late?

As long as you already have passports, that should be fine.

You should be good. I didn't book our trip to Mexico until late February last year and it was in early April

Not sure if you're planning to change your name after marriage, but you'll want to wait until after the honeymoon to start that process if so!

There is an option for getting your passport renewal expedited. It's an added fee but you may need to do that, ASAP. Other than that you should be fine. Things may book up, but if you already have a timeshare set aside, then all you need are plane tickets. April isn't a peak travel time, but I'd start pricing plane tickets sooner rather than later.

Routine Service is 6-8 weeks, expedited is is 2-3 weeks.

I believe expedited service costs $60.

Passports are really the only time restrictive thing for international travel, unless you are going to a country where you need to apply for a visa (not Mexico) or you need special permits to visit an area you want to go to. It really depends on what you want to do - more complex trips take longer to coordinate and line up logistics for, but you could book an all inclusive trip the week before if you really wanted.
