How helpful is a seating chart?

Tonya, on July 18, 2019 at 7:25 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
My wedding is on Sunday, I have the seating chart all planned out but I don’t know how or where to print all of my guests names onto their nameplates. I’m slammed with things to do this weekend, so my question is: how helpful is it really?

is it worth the effort to make sure it gets done? And if so.. how do I print the names onto the nameplates if I don’t own a printer? They’re name plates on a sheet of paper that tear apart that I found at Michaels.

    Yes it is VERY helpful.

You get a nice large mirror and a window marker and write the Table #/name down and then under it( in another colour) write the people’s names.

As for the escort cards go get card stock, cut it and fold it in 1/2 and hand write the names and table #.

Time consuming but worth it. You don’t want people to take spots that you’d rather others be at- especially if you’ve gone thru the hassle to making the chart to start with!

Have a friend or family member help get it done?

Is it terrible/tacky to hand write all of the name plates? I just can’t figure out how I’m going to be able to print them from a printer...

I’m going to be hand writing my name cards neatly. If anyone thinks anything about such a small detail then maybe they shouldn’t be at my wedding anyway.

Many UPS and FedEx stores can print for you. They can print files from either flash drives or emailed to the store.

I think it adds a MUCH more personal touch, actually.

And unless your writing is illegible and or it looks like a 4 year old- then I’d say GO FOR IT!

Yes, these things are important. Just go to Staples, FedEx, Kinko's, etc. to have these things printed for you. Should take an hour tops and not cost much.

Yes... it's super helpful! Let the seating chart be in the foyer whether it be on a mirror or handwritten on an easel. Then let the guest pick a seat when they get to their designated table; or get name place settings for the plates (that'll cost ya). I thought about everybody's personality, who I wanted to introduce, people I thought had things in common and personality quirks. I got so many 'thank you for sitting me next to him or her I had a great time!' I sat people together based in interests, work, faith, education, etc. It was wonderful.

I think it's helpful. People should at least know the table they should sit at. If you have nice handwriting you could even write it! Some of my friends are so good at calligraphy so if you don't have good penmanship I'm sure you have a friend that does that wouldn't mind helping out
