How far in Advance should we start registering for Gifts?

I don't think there's a rule on when to register. A bunch of books I read said to register soon after the engagement - If you plan to have an engagement party/bridal shower/etc. people sometimes like to get gifts that are listed on the registery. :o)

No one has asked me at all, and we've been engaged since January! I figured I'd start registering when people start asking, but that might never happen...

We are getting married in January and we still haven't registered although I know we have to do it NOW! I was always worried that items we chose would become discontinued and we would end up with a set of glasses and nothing else to match. We did not have an engagement party either.

Ooohhh, great question! we are a little under a year away and i was thinking about starting my registry. i think we are going to do it a little before we send out our stds, since we won't be doing an engagement party or anything.

I think it is important to have other things done first. The registry is prob. best doing once you have the major things completed. Venue, dj, photographer, dress. I am waiting until most likely the spring to register and I am getting married in the fall of 12'.

I have my Venue, Caterer, Dress, DJ, Photographer, Florist, Invites are picked out, Favors are in the works....
