How far in advance should I book hair/makeup trials?

FutureMrsAF, on February 4, 2017 at 6:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

The checklist says to do it in March for my August wedding, but I'm hoping to grow my hair a bit between now and then. Granted it's only 6 months but that's still enough time for a couple inches of growth (I hope, haha) how far in advance did you do yours?

I had my trials done the first week of January for a late March wedding.

I also timed it to be right before my first dress fitting. I was able to put my dress on with my hair in a similar do. And then had a chance to go back to my hair stylist if there were any issues.

We are already booked. Only because I have used them for previous weddings and loves their work. My trial won't be until July.

It all depends on you and the stylist . Have you used them before or are they your regular stylist ? I'm a hairstylist and do trials as early as a year before so the bride feels confident signing contract and giving deposit ( for on location bridal parties) . I've also done them as late as two weeks before for brides who are comfortable and know my work. Also are you picky or unsure of what you want? The sooner you start the more looks you can try if you have doubts . In the end it's preference but the longer you wait the higher risk of the stylists and artists not having availability to accommodate you.

I've had the hair/MUA so my hair for another wedding - so I know I like her. I booked her without a trial for this.

I'm doing my trial feb 16- mostly because I live out of town and I'm available and she's available that day. It's a month before my wedding, and the last time I'll be in town before the week of the wedding.

My hair stylist recommended only a month before the wedding.

I've consistently used her for my hair for over a year now though, so she's got a pretty good idea of what she's working with.

I haven't scheduled a trial, but I've had the same woman cut my hair for 10 years. When I told her we were getting married, she asked for the date and blocked it for me. We'll start talking about what I want and when I should have a trial next time I get my hair cut. (I'm getting married in September. I can't figure out how to change it from private.)

I scheduled mine for October for a January wedding. I wanted to have time to find someone else if I really didn't like their style on me.

I'm doing mine 4 weeks ahead. I'm planning to go the same day as my bridal shower. I can't fathom paying for my trials and sitting at home the rest of the day. I'll probably have the stylist change up the hair a bit so it's not exactly the same as the wedding day.

I just talked to several HMUAs today, they'll all get back to me next week (several factors involved, stylists willing to travel to the hotel and work on Sunday) and once I get pricing I'll decide. Though there was one I really like and hope that they say yes they can do it. Then I'll schedule a trial, probably some time late April/ early May. I almost feel like I'm behind, but that might just be because it's memorial day weekend + that town's graduation.

I don't think there's too early for hair, but you probably don't want to leave it until the last minute. Eta just realized you were only asking about trials not HMUAs in general. I'm gonna do one month before.

I booked the make-up artist in July and went for a trial in September. My regular stylist did my hair trial in late August. Not a whole lot to do with short hair, bit she tried something different which I hated and decided to go with a regular blow out.

I have an August wedding and I just booked my appointments for may! Literally today! It really depends on how busy and popular your salon is but you can try hair and makeup anytime
