How far in advance for cake tasting/booking baker?

WW checklist says November for finding a cake baker - my wedding is in June = so to book 7 months out according to the checklist. I know this falls into best judgement for the baker I'm looking at, how popular they are, etc on when to do it, but just curious how far in advance did you do cake...

Our baker is included with the venue but we are doing a consultation/tasting next weekend..so a little less than 7 months out.

We are going to do a cake tasting next month and if we go with her, we will be a year out.

We did ours pretty early mostly because we wanted to eat cake too. Went to two places and the second was SO good we had to book on the spot. I want to say we booked 8-9 months out.

Our venue includes bakery in the contract. We had our tasting 12 months out.

We just had our first cake tasting this week. Way in advance but I want the opportunity to try all the cakes lol.

We booked ours, but we don't have a tasting until 1-2 months before the wedding. Just keeping my fingers crossed that all the word of mouth and reviews are accurate.
