How far ahead should you buy your fh wedding band?

We bought his 4-5 months in advance. It came in and didn't fit, so they had to order a new one. But with all of that he's had his ring for probably close to 3 months so we had plenty of time.

We are getting married October 4, 2019 and will be purchasing the rings sometime at the end of July/early August. The jeweler already told us it would be about a 10-day turnaround so I'm not stressing too much!

I haven't bought it yet. he's being kinda picky when before he just wanted a plan gold band, now he wants this specific one I can't afford and i'm trying to figure out what to do
