How early did you book your florist?

We are a little over a year out and with most of the bigger things taken care of, I am starting to think about the flowers. How early on did you book yours? Are prices seasonal based on availability due to weather in your area? What questions should I be asking? HELP!

We booked 3 months out. I don't think it's a good idea to book far in advance for DJ, flowers or cakes unless the vendor is a "must have" and you want to nail them down.

The venue is a different story...for obvious reasons.

I booked in April, so 5 months out. If you are going to book them now, make sure you don't change your mind between now and then. That's why I waited so long...I couldn't make a decision.

I want to wait until at least my bridesmaid dresses are picked out (probably August) for my wedding in May, which would be about 9 months out. Some of the comments here are making me think maybe I should start a little sooner than that.

I think I booked mine about 8 or 9 months before. I was getting estimates in Oct./Nov. of last year and booked my florist in December. We're getting together this weekend to go over things before the big day.

About 8 months out. Price will vary greatly based on the type of flowers you want!

I booked mine about a year out.

We actually waited since we heard you're supposed to wait until it gets closer to your date. I actually missed out on my first pick because they were already booked at 1 year out. However, our florist is amazing and we vibed very well together and they blew me away with their creative ideas instead of cookie cutter "well heres what we've already done" kinda thing. Id say book as soon as you can!

    Edited for spelling

My wedding is next July and I just made appointments for consultations with two florists in 2 weeks. My thinking was to make these consultations around the time of year as our wedding so we can get an idea of what is in season and price accordingly.

I'm getting married 9/5 and JUST booked my flowers this weekend. I am going through a lady I found at the farmers market- If you have one in your area- check them out! I am paying more than HALF less than the florist quotes in my area!

6 months out, I wasn't very picky with what I wanted. If your more open to that you could save some money.

We booked our florist 18 months in advance (4 months after we booked our venue). I visited many florists and I found a florist who was giving us a great deal for everything we wanted. He only does 1 wedding a day so we knew we should book him. He made our samples before booking him and we were in awe. My mom really loved them too. Our florist is in NYC and in demand though, it might be different in other parts of the country.
