How do you know when you find "the one"?

So naturally I've been browsing dresses online for months now. I found a dress at David's Bridal that I fell in love with and have been thinking about for months. I made an appointment and on Saturday went down with my girls and tried this dress on finally, in addition to maybe 8-10 more. It was the second dress I tried on and every dress I tried after I compared to this dress. They were all beautiful dresses but there was always something that made me say no, and I couldn't always put my finger on what it was. I just knew each dress wasn't "the one." So at the end of my appointment I put my favorite dress back on and tried a veil with it, and I loved it even more. It's just as beautiful in person, it look great on me, it's in my budget, and it just checks all my boxes. But when I was asked if I was saying yes to the dress, I couldn't do it.

I'm not one to make decisions quickly, especially large, important decisions. I think I just got nervous that I was in my first dress shop, and this was the second dress I've ever tried on. My girls told me to make a few more appointments at a couple more shops and if after trying a few more I keep thinking about this particular dress, then I'll know this was the one.

I watch a lot of "Say Yes to the Dress" and you always see over-the-top reactions from these girls. That's not me, so I wasn't expecting to cry or anything like that, but I'm just curious, how did you know that your dress was the one for you? I know everyone is different but I want to hear from real brides.

This is a hard one. I had a short timeline and limited budget. I tried on a handful, found two I liked. Eventually picked one and the shop gave me a discount if I bought same day. I did feel pressure, and later on felt dress regret. However dress regret is common and I tried to not worry.

I didn't cry when I found my dress. Went to a few bridal shops to try on different dresses and found one that is nothing like what I would have thought I would get but made a special impression for me, it even fits perfectly without the need for any alterations.

I took photos of all the dresses I tried on me and then went back to look at on the photos, some dresses looked nice in reality but on the photos didn't look so good. But this one I found was special in real AND in photo, 2 days later I went back to get it and love it everytime I look at it and put it on Smiley smile

Honestly, I knew when I put mine on by the way it felt. I didn’t want a heavy dress and this one felt light. I could move in it, felt comfortable in it, felt like a bride in it and it was what I had imagined for myself. And once I heard about the special pocket the dress had by the heart to put a photo of a loved one inside it, I knew right away this was the dress for me. I could see myself walking around the grounds of our wedding venue and it fit with the vibe we wanted

I went to 3 places.y dress was a little more than I wanted to spend but it was absolutely amazing.
I love it entirely. Once I paid for it, I stopped looking.

I had a hard time with this as well. I had no reaction at all to my dress. Once I found one that I didn’t hate something about, it was that. I started comparing the other dress to that one and kept thinking about it. But when I would try it one I just smiled and said yea I like it. Not the big moment that my mom was hoping for. With almost no excitement, no crying anything. But that’s also just my personality. Also think that they hype it up a little on those shows just because it’s on TV. But if it checks your boxes and you can see yourself walking down the aisle then it might just be your one.

I haven’t started shopping yet, but if my daughter starts to tear up, I’ll know it’s the dress. She’s the only one I even want with me, so it’s a big deal to us. She’s already told me she wants to wear my wedding dress. ❤️

Well for me, I tried the dress on at my first appointment and I really liked it. It is beautiful and elegant and I loved the color. My mom wasn't there though and I wanted her to see it first before I made any decisions. I waited a month with me nonstop thinking about this dress and I took my mom in to see it. She started crying and fell in love with the dress and it made me happy that she liked it. Honestly though, the part that made me pick my dress was the fact that my wedding, and that I am marrying the man that I love, became very real and I started to cry at my dress appointment.

I don’t know that every bride has that moment , but I did even though at first I thought it wouldn’t . The irony was that it was a dress that didn’t check any of my boxes but when I put it on - it pulled a really strong emotional reaction from me . To put it simply I felt like a bride in that dress. To be sure I was right I went to one more dress appt and asked for dresses of the same style but that particular dress was THE ONE !

I cried, but it wasn’t exactly the dress that made me do it. It was more thinking about walking down the isle towards my future husband, the dress wasn’t what mattered at all. I found one that I felt comfortable in and thought made me look amazing that I would want to walk to meet my future husband in but really it could have been any dress because that’s not what the day is all about.

When I first tried on my dress with my mom, it was just the two of us and I was just looking at ideas that I would want. I never expected to actually pick my dress. I'm the opposite of you and I cry over everything (lol) so i started crying like immediately. We are doing a DW in the DR and so i needed something light and airy and not only was the dress gorgeous it checked all the boxes. So we left it that day and scheduled an appointment for the "real day" with the rest of my family. Between then and my other appointment I actually started to feel dress regret and wasn't sure if it was it. We actually started in another shop where i found a dress that actually made me question (and cry again because i was overwhelmed) my first choice. I ended up saving that dress for last and once I put it on I actually didn't cry again but I just knew. I felt it not only myself, but i felt it in the room as well with everyone around me. LONG story short, I feel like even if you don't have that cry "omg" moment I feel like we are intuitive enough that if we know, we know. I hope this helps!
