How do you end the wedding night?

Do I just stick around while the party fizzles out or do I do an exit? I have no idea what I am supposed to do, or what other people have done to end the night.

We let the party fizzle out until it was just close friends and then we took it down tonthe loft apartment. We all just hung out for a bit, some of my friends were tipsy. Smiley smile. They all decided to go out and bar hop and they begged us to go with them, but we went straight to bed and slept.

We're staying until the end, and then walking anyone who wants to keep the party going across the river at the bars. My guests are all coming from far away. I don't want to cut the night short when I could be spending time with them.

Traditionally, the couple was supposed to leave the wedding first, and no guest would leave before then. The theory was, this proved the bride's virginity by showing that the couple was so eager to get to the, um, post-wedding festivities that a mere party wouldn't stop them.

These days, that tradition has pretty much gone by the wayside--along with the efforts at indicating the bride's virginity (and thank heavens for the latter!). If you want a grand exit, you'll need to leave relatively early, before your guests begin leaving. If you don't, you can just stay to the end.
