How did your parents meet each other?

Ours haven't met in the 5 years we've been together. They'll meet a few days before the wedding, that is, if his folks decide to come (DW). He's not close with either of them. Logistically they all live in different states as well so they're hasn't been much opportunity for them to meet either.

After 5 years of dating and less than 2 months out from the wedding, our parents have yet to meet each other. Probably won't happen until rehearsal dinner. FH parents are divorced and he had a rocky relationship with his dad just before I met him up until maybe 2 years ago when they started to re-connect. His mom is a whole different story. FH has purposely put this meeting off for awhile. He became more close to my family and I think he's embarrassed by his mom especially. It will be an interesting dinner to say the least. Wedding will feature ex-step dad too.

Our parents met each other at my nephew's 1st birthday party (2 yrs ago)...we invited his parents to our family party & our parents clicked right away! So now they get to talk to each other at every family party!

His parents came to visit from out of state 4 years into the realationship and met my family then.

My parents met FHs parents about a year into dating. My family is Jewish so we don't celebrate Christmas but my parents were visiting (they live in another state) so FHs parents invited them over for Christmas brunch. I was nervous because my parents are very liberal and are somewhat hippies and FHs parents are more straightlaced but it all went well!

We all went out to dinner together about a month before we got engaged.

My parents live about an hour or so away from FH parents and they didn't meet until 3 years after we were together. My parents had dinner at FH parents house and we all ate together.

We had both families over our house at the same time to announce our engagement a little less than a year ago. We'd been together for four years at that point. FMIL took an agonizing and hilarious 15-20 minutes to notice my ring even though everyone else already knew and I was pretty much waving it at her. My mom couldn't understand why it was so important to me that they meet and showed up 2 hours late. Sadly, we'll never have them all in the same room again as FMIL has passed away. I'm glad we were able to make it happen the one time.

We invited both of our moms to a bridal showcase because we wanted their opinions, and that's where they met for the first time. Our dads met at the supermarket where my dad works when I was at work and FH was out doing errands with his dad.

My parents were high school sweethearts just like my FH and I.

We have three sets of parents to account for since his divorced and remarried. They live in different states. We're doing a destination and instead of a rehearsal, we'll do a welcome dinner so everyone can meet 2 days before (Wed on Tuesday, Welcome on Sunday). It was a big reason we did a destination so everyone could have a couple days to get to know each other, not just 4 hours.

They'll meet at the wedding. If FHs mother even bothers to show up.
