We're thinking of using a joint savings account. Any other tips? Or smart ways to save money?

I paid for the wedding with quarterly bonus checks I receive. FH is paying for the honeymoon! We are a week away and I can't wait to be a MRS!

We booked far enough out so that we were able to make payments to the venue, caterer, and decorator.

Got a second job, all that money goes to savings. We do not have a joint account, but I live very cheaply from week to week. I get my paycheck which I make last for all of my bills, because luckily I'm paid weekly). If I have money left over after paying bills it goes into my savings account.

We started a totally separate account and budgeted what each of us could realistically save every month. When we get paid, that amount goes into the wedding account.

I wanna add another recommendation for Digit. You can set a goal of how much you need saved by when and it will automatically deduct money from your account when it knows you won't miss it. It keeps it in a separate account, which is helpful because out of sight, out of mind!

Side hustle for sure. FH got a second job. I already had a second job so I bumped up the number of shifts I wanted. It's hard because we work our full time job during the day and our side jobs on nights and weekends. But we picked one night a week not to work so we can spend time together and get wedding stuff done.

My direct deposit from work gets split 25%/75%. I decided to take the 25% and put it towards the wedding. FH and I do not have a joint account yet and he is not a good saver. I worked on creating a budget for him so he'd have enough saved as we are splitting the expenses. We are using an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of what everything costs, who paid and when, and how much left we have to pay. This way, we can keep track of everything in one location and stay on budget.

We haven't really been 'saving', rather we've been spending the money on wedding things as they come in. I'm awful about paying for things all at once so this has been way easier on us!

Not only do you need a wedding budget, but a personal budget as well. Give yourself an "allowance" every pay period. If you have trouble sticking to it, it's easier if you withdraw the allowance so you have it in cash and spend only cash. Once it's gone, it's gone and you have to wait for next pay period to replenish.
