How did you pick your DJ?

I apologize for too many posts. I need some help. There are so many DJs and all with similar prices. How do you decide which one to go with?

He's my FH frat brother and we heard him before. Try WW vendor search and check out the reviews

We went with a DJ who was highly recommended by our caterer (who was highly recommended by our venue coordinator) so we felt good about the vendor networking, knowing he had worked our venue before. Then when we actually met him it was a no brainer because he was so approachable and friendly. Haven't had the wedding yet, but I have complete confidence in him.

We picked a rather expensive DJ, but music is important to us and they basically control the flow and tone of the wedding. We are also getting what we pay for, as he's become a great resource for info and recommendations. We even found our photographer through him. He is so personable and knowledgeable that we have no regrets about the cost!

Small budget, so that really limited the # of DJs for us to check out. Checked out their reviews & I made sure to meet them in person...definitely felt like they were someone we could work with (letting them do their job; but with our input on some things).

Mine was recommended by a friends wedding. He n ones the polish music we want for our reception along with American music. I've experienced his wedding party so that helps .

I picked one that has worked at my venue multiple times. He knows what needs to be done when where and how.

When I started looking into vendors I had to contact several DJs before I was able to find one who wasn't already booked. I even started planning early. I contacted DJs based on reviews from WW and found the company we booked.

I picked one of the prefered vendors of my venue. But before doing it I read through every review I could before contacting him. Ask to see the contract before initiating a deposit or full payment for cheaper if done in cash.

Ask to hear some of their work...or ask can you hear them at a party

We met ours at a bridal show. We were going back and forth between a couple of them. Ultimately chose the one with the best reviews (200+ with 5 stars!) who answered all our questions. They were so available, even now when I have a question I ask and they reply promptly. I would avoid the ones who are hard to get a hold of, specially when you're trying to get information for booking... it seems like they communicate even less afterwards. They let you choose the songs you want (not from a list, but ANY song). They adjust everything based on you. Like, if I could I would want to advertise for them because out of all my vendors so far I have actually really enjoyed working with them!

The owner of our venue also owns the DJ company and I've seen them at work and I loved the energy they brought. Plus we got a discount for booking both venue and DJ

We had a challenging venue (ceremony on one mountain, reception on the other, transportation to and from was a gondola) and the DJ we hired had done jobs at the venue before which was a MAJOR deciding factor for us. He also seemed to show a genuine interest in making our wedding a good time too.

I sent e-mails to the preferred vendors from our venue. They called me back and then based on those conversations we decided who to meet with. We liked him instantly. The company is very organized and the DJ has been working with the company and the vendor for 12 years. We will start to make a playlist and a schedule of what to play for the ceremony, etc.

You won't know until you meet with them and get a feel for what they are like and if they will fit into the vision of your big day.

What helped us decide was deep research and a lot of review reading.
