I'd recommend a debit card or cash if you can, unless you can charge it to a cc and pay it off immediately. Then you could use a rewards card and benefit from those too. But if you won't have the money when it's due, I would think a cc is your only option.

Some vendors only accept cash/check and some PayPal and some credit cards so it all depends...

These are all great options. I agree IF YOU KNOW you can pay off your purchases in a timely manner definitely put it on the credit card, if not a secure card helps as well and most banks offer this feature to anyone. FH and I have discussed opening a joint account at our bank.

We did credit card for the points. Once the statement posted, we'd pay it off in full from our joint account. FH's AmEx has great rewards, so it's benefiting us so far.

As far as saving, (if you need help with that) we used the Quapital app- every time you make a purchase, it rounds up to the nearest dollar and sets that amount aside. In less than a year we have about $3k in the app!

As long as you pay it off immediately, credit cards can be an awesome way to go. That's what we did, and racked up lots of rewards money. But you have to make sure to really budget carefully and pay it off immediately before it starts accruing interest.
