Admittedly, I also hated my fiance when I met him. I was 14 and I was with someone else I was dating. He was 17, sitting on his porch with a cigar in his mouth. I mean, he was really hot and all in shape, but I was like "this guy is a huge jerk". The first thing he said to me was that I look slutty (which I did). Years later, he gained some weight and some respect. He quit smoking, and started school. We started dating when I was 16 right after the guy I was previously with moved back to Germany.

Been inseparable since...

Two years ago, we ended up chatting on a post in a private Facebook group for single alumni of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). From there, we moved to the DMs for a more private conversation, then to texts, phone calls, and our first meeting on a weekend trip/date to New Orleans. We’ve been together ever since.

College! I was a freshman and my friend (J) was a junior (i think?). She was supposed to was supposed to eat lunch with me but her SO was visiting and she wanted to eat lunch with them but invited me to sit with them. I would usually say no, but something prompted me to say yes. I went over and turns out J’s boo was this kid (S)’s sibling. I’ve seen S around campus a few times and was always intrigued by him. S didn’t talk to me at all for months though, but the first real convo we had lasted 6 HOURS, it was the only time he skipped a college class. And now I’ll be marrying S in April

We met on Tinder, and went on our first date a week and a half before he deployed for six months (army). Somehow that week and a half was enough and we made it through the whole deployment, and now he is home and here we are getting married in May!

I met my FH at 2am in a laundry mat. He was drunk and so was my roommate. I told her he was cute and he came over and shook my hand after she blurted it out loud to him. I was so embarrassed. I saw him around after that and then we started talking.

My fiancé and I unofficially met during accepted students day at the college I was attending that fall. He was already a student. I observed his class and he nearly accidentally punched his acting teacher while he was reaching the students to pretend punch. Now, we officially met that fall, around mid September when I started at school. I had a crush on this kid and he strung me along for awhile and then called me crazy when I wanted clarification about our relationship and threatened to get me thrown off campus because he was going to claim I was stalking him when I was visiting friends who happened to live in his hall (I didn’t bother him when I was hanging with my friends, not once. The only time I bothered him was when I wanted clarification about the relationship). Anyway, I came out of a meeting with a councilor because I was distraught about this asshole. I went over to sit with my friend who happened to be sitting with my now fiancé. She introduced me to him and called him “death” because the first time she met him he was really sick. I spent the day talking to him and his friends and our friend (who’s my fiancé’s best man in our wedding party) walked me back to my dorm. The next day I went to the campus center to meet up with them after class and was having a blast. My fiancé asked to walk me back to my dorm that night and so he did. He asked me out that night and I originally said no, but after he left I decided to give it a shot and called him back and said yes. Week later we went on a date and well, as they all say, the rest in history 😊

We met at a dance in college, which is hilarious because my FH is NOT a party-goer. He was obligated to be there for a certain amount of time because his housing group was hosting the party. He was standing in the corner near the snack table looking uncomfortable and I was dancing in a group nearby. I smiled and waved and motioned for him to join us. We hit it off and he walked me back to my dorm that night and asked for my number. Went on our first date a week later! We will be together 5 years at in April.

Luckily I get to see him every month or two. We take turns buying plane tickets and yes it still sucks but it's so worth it!

We met at a barbecue at his house that his friend who liked me invited me to. I wasn't into his friend, just young and looking for a fun time and as soon as I met my FH I knew I liked him. But his friend liked me, there was drama, yada yada, long story short after a year of being great friends and saying screw that drama we ended up together

My best friend! I went camping with her family the year we graduated high school and she said “I think my brother likes you so if you like him you should totally go for it cause I hate learning to like new girlfriends and I KNOW I like you”
She’s my maid of honor at me and her brothers wedding!

View Quoted Comment Yeah it was all pretty dumb. Unfortunately, no. He didn't speak to us for a year and a half when we first got together, then he apologized for it and we all became good friends again for a little while. It didn't last long though, he stopped talking to us for no reason once again and we haven't heard from him in over 2 years. He says we have "nothing in common anymore" which isn't true, and my FH and him were childhood friends, so the whole thing is kinda sad, but it happens I guess :/

Met through the singles section of a paper. Met face to face at a fair in '96, got married in '97. Had 2 beautiful children, then in '03 went our separate ways. We remained friends for our children.

Got back together in '16. It's going a lot better this time.

Mutual friend. She told me all about her guy friend I needed to meet.


We officially met at a house party. I knew tons about him, but he knew nothing about me. My friend was the perfect wingwoman.
We went on our first official date a week later and that was it.
