How did you choose your colors?

I'm getting married as late as 2022 but I want to move it up. My problem is figuring out which colors I want. I want sunflowers everywhere but I keep talking myself out of other colors. How do you decide?

I ended up looking up ideas on Pinterest. I’m still confused changing but just because there nothing really to do right now. Because of the situation we have chosen to move our date back so that maybe someone who missed out on theirs can take ours that we had towards the end of the year.
The colors that I liked was the Dusty Blue and the Burgundy looks really nice but we are doing a fall wedding.

That's what we are doing. Bold/rich jewel tones (emerald green, cobalt/twilight blue, winter teal) and then adding a dusty pink so it's still a pale color for contrast but breaks it up from all the deep colors.

We knew our ceremony would be planned to be outdoors and we wanted to include natural elements that we love (ferns, moss, greenery) and my FH decided on navy for his suit. Then he stumbled upon a vintage paper moon photo booth and that sent us down a rabbit hole for a celestial theme integrated with the natural feel as we love astronomy and being outdoors (camping/hiking) under the night sky, so that is the feel we want to create. We’ll have touches of blue, green, silver/gold.

We ended up choosing colors after selecting our venue. And by pure luck, the colors were significant to FH and I. Our venue is a little unexpected and we have two different color schemes from the ceremony to the reception, based on the colors of those rooms.

I’d look on pintrist for ideas. That’s how i picked my colors. Start with colors or flowers you like and search from there. Sunflowers can go great with a lot of other colors. Yellow/orange looks great with navy.

So I knew I wanted teal as my main color. I ended up picking a darker shade since my wedding is in October (had we gone with July I probably would’ve gone brighter teal) but I wasn’t exactly sure about other colors that would coordinate well so I searched on Pinterest “teal color scheme”. So I ended up with teal, gray, plum, golden yellow, and rust orange. Flowers will be daisies because that’s what I really wanted but I may add some black eyed Susans or other wildflowers for a little pop of color. And then I’m planning for a few potted mums for decorations as well because it’s October, they’ll be beautiful and affordable.

I decided my colors based on the season I was getting married in and location. Another factor in picking wedding colors was colors that could accent my main color if you want sunflowers everywhere pick one or two other colors that will compliment the yellow look that will complete the whole look of the wedding

I'm doing sunflowers as well, but I for some reason always pictured orange bridesmaids dresses, so orange and yellow made me think sunset colors. I'd say to think about why you're picking sunflowers and build off that. Is it because they're big and bright? Go with brighter, high impact colors like a brighter green or pink or blue. My fiance actually picked sunflowers because of my love of Vincent Van Gogh, so if I hadn't already picked orange for the dresses, I easily could have picked a Vincent Van Gogh kind of palette with lots of blue and green and a little dustier/muted looking. Smiley smile Build off the vibe you want.

Pick your favorite colors. Pinterest has a huge selection of color palette photos for inspiration. Sunflowers are a summer/fall flower so they coordinate with anything.

I would say an average of 2-3 colors is good. My FH and I knew we both liked gold so we picked gold as our mutual color then I picked a color I liked (navy) and he picked a color he liked (crimson red). It was the perfect compromise! We also looked as inspiration photos. What colors do you like?

I am doing two different colors! I love the white bright and airy white flowers look, and I love light pink look so for the ceremony in our church we are doing white roses with greenery and hints of gold. For the reception we are doing pink cherry blossoms with greenery and gold plus more wood themes!

We thought about the colors we like the most, and try to think about all of the things and make a palette.

My colors were chosen based on what they reflected in my culture and religion.
