How did he ask his groomsmen?

Lorasaurus, on September 2, 2014 at 1:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

So, in the next week I will be officially asking my wedding party to join me on the big day. Which means for the past week I've been putting together "bridesmaid boxes" (with trinkets/ pictures of us/ sentimental letters to ask them to be my bridesmaid etc). My FH is very much so into the wedding planning (He reminds me daily that it's his day too). He loves my bridesmaid boxes and wants to make some for his guys as well (... well he wants me to put them together).

I guess my question is, how did your FH ask his groomsmen to stand with him? Did he do anything special or was did they just go out for drinks or something?

My FH literally just blurted it out. Groomsmen are mutual friends and they were all laughing at how elaborate my plan to ask bridesmaids was. Men are not expecting the same kind of special treatment . They also don't do as much work as the bridesmaids so it makes sense!

FH is soooo not into the wedding planning, lucky you! He asked each of the guys in person (Best Man while I was there as well as a friend of mine for 12 years), the others he was out having drinks with them and asked them there...nothing special about it

Text message lol. I tried to do something special, but totally dropped the ball and the guys who thought they were going to be asked were getting anxious, so I told him to just ask them

He bought them a beer. Also, take a look through these boards, you might want to hold off another month or 2 to ask your wedding party there are horror stories about girls who asked too soon. A lot can change in 12 months.

FH just asked his guys, some in person and some over the phone. One of his friends helped him pull off the proposal and FH just asked him. He texted his BIL and my brother, and called his other friend who lives out of state. Although that conversation was cute, he asked, "Do you have plans to come up to Wisconsin the weekend of October 11?" His friend said, "No, should I?" and FH said, "Yep, because you'll be standing up in my wedding!"

The most special thing we did was take our MOH and Best Man (they are married to each other) out to dinner to ask them, and it was a total surprise, we hadn't even publicly announced it yet. That was funny though too, we were all coming from work and meeting there separately, and I got there at the same time as Best Man, so we were sitting there waiting for the others to arrive. He walked around me in a circle and I had no idea what he was doing. Later, after we broke the news, he said he had a gut feeling and was trying to look for a ring! But I didn't have it yet because it didn't arrive in time.

FH made (lol had me make) personalized flasks for them and they were mailed out! His groomsmen and BM are all spred out in different states thats why. if they lived closer we would have bought them drinks and asked LOL

I had a feeling these were the responses I'd get, lol. The guys boxes are not as elaborate though... just some alcohol, photos, and a letter. The girls are bit more sentimental, especially since I see them helping out a lot more.

and @emmy~ I agree, but my side is all my sisters... so that won't change for me. (his side are all old friends and I doubt there will be quite as much drama on the boys side.)

I'm pretty sure he either called or texted. It probably went along the lines of

H: hey - want to be in my wedding?

    G: sure

    H: cool
