How did FS propose?

Husband and I were sitting at the breakfast table. I was prattling on, planning our future as I do. Since we both agreed to start hitting all those life milestones (kids, house, marriage) within the next few years, I wanted to start getting a more direct timeline. So, I asked him what our timeline looked like to budget things out.

His exact response, "I've been thinking about this a lot. I have the ring, what are we waiting for!?"

Not exactly the reply I was expecting, but definitely jump started the timetable...

We initially said we would wait to plan our future out until he finishes school. Through a series of not so good events he ended up living me and we just said well why wait if we've done everything but get engaged?

We were in Jamaica, he asked me if I wanted to go for a nighttime walk on the beach, and then led me in the opposite direction of the beach, to a gazebo all decorated with candles and set up for dinner. We sat down, I'm thinking I was just surprised with a nice dinner. Once we sit down at the table he starts telling me how much he loves me, and pulls out a ring and asks "will you marry me?" I say yes and he pauses and goes "okay, take it" I'm like "babe, you're supposed to put the ring on my finger!" Haha he said he was so nervous that he forgot what to do. His mom also gave him some slack for not getting down on one knee Haha

We were at home on a Friday night, we were going out of town the next day to visit some of my friends a few hours away. So I got home changed into sweat pants while my FH started making dinner, chicken fajitas (also my favorite dinner that he makes). We finished dinner and were just watching some TV show on Reelz, I was kind of dozing off too. Then he was like "hun I love you and I'm so happy. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you." Then he pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked. I said yes, then he was like I don't know what finger to put the ring on. Which was funny, because we went ring shopping together and the ring we picked out was sized for my finger. Needless to say I wasn't falling asleep on the couch after that lol, I think I got like 5 hours of sleep that night and the next. But we also called family and some close friends on Friday night; then posted it on Facebook; so my phone was going off most of the night on Friday too. I finally crashed on Sunday lol. But I wouldn't have it any other way I love that we got engaged at home just the 2 of us.

I knew an engagement was coming (long emotional story), but I did not expect it when it happened. We were on vacation, a cruise to Bermuda with my mom. It was our second day in Bermuda. I had gotten FH a golf outing for the day and went shopping with my mom so the entire day we were apart. He had an amazing time golfing and had said he wanted to do a private dinner together that night and get all dressed up. Some other family we were with asked if we wanted to do a family dinner at a rodizio place on the ship, FH LOVES rodizio so we agreed we would go to family dinner instead of private dinner, but we would still get dressed up. I was in the bathroom doing my make-up and I hear FH tell my mom she has to leave the room (yes we shared a room, it was not that bad, my mom is very respectful). I'm like what the hell is he talking to my mom like that for, but whatever I'm not getting involved. Then I hear him turn off the light and I'm thinking he's going to take a nap and was getting a little annoyed since we were meeting people and he was the one that wanted to go. I had left one of my makeup pallets out in the room so I stepped out of the bathroom to go get it and he was in kneeling in the little hallway with my ring in a light up box. I was so shocked I just bent down and started kissing him. He just kind of stayed like that for a bit and I had to remind him that he had to actually ask me, he was all choked up so he barely got the words out!

I rolled over in bed (it was like 6am) and saw him staring at me. Of course I'm just like "hi....?" and he said "You are so beautiful, will you marry me?"

At this point I didn't see the ring (it was dark..) and said "Duh, you know I would"

THEN I saw the ring and realized it was real, so of course I said yes!

I had a worked a night shift and was fast asleep when he snuck out. A few hours later I woke up to an alarm I didn't remember setting. There was a card on the nightstand that took me on a big scavenger hunt to all our "greatest hits" of the past 10 years together- from where we met to our favorite date spots. At every stop there was a new little card and a small goose figurine (we have a thing for geese). The last clue took me to a nail salon where the receptionist gave me my final destination after my manicure. When I arrived, his brother escorted me down to a gazebo, decorated with lights and my FH standing in the middle. My family was hidden around the corner watching. Despite the pouring rain it was really beautiful and we danced to our song before he got down and asked!

I said yes of course. And we giggle about the fact that he asked "are you going to put it on?" I told him "you're supposed to put it on my finger!"

What an amazing proposal

We just talked about it, we went to look at rings so he could see what I liked the best because he wanted me to get the ring I actually wanted, the. We told his parents (he wanted me to essentially ask his dad for his hand in marriage it was super awkward). We can’t actually afford the ring of my dreams at the moment, so I have a $9 CZ ring from Walmart on my finger until we can save up the money for a nicer ring which will likely be by the end of this year, then we called my parents and told them xD. There was no official cutesy proposal, which is kind of disappointing as I’ve waited my whole life for that experience but I’m marrying my best friend and that’s what really matters.

Last Labor Day weekend we were at his family’s cabin in Lake Tahoe. We were the first ones up there so while we’re waiting on our friends and his sister to get there we went to sit on the pier and have a drink. At one point he said he needed a new beer and clearly I thought nothing of it since I finished my wine and asked for another glass. When he got back he was on one knee! And he also remembered our drinks so #keeper

We got engaged after the football game on Super Bowl Sunday night! FH and I didn't get engaged with a ring - we talked about it and decided to get married. He bought a ring a few days later and surprised me at my parents' house by getting on one knee

Aww, I enjoyed reading your sweet proposal story! That ring is so pretty!

I knew a proposal was coming in February, since he kept asking if February was okay. We already had the church, reception, and photographer booked for our November wedding, but were obviously keeping it pretty secret. We had a trip to Disney planned (we are big Disney nerds!) but I wasn't expecting a proposal there since FH had previously said he wouldn't propose on a vacation because he'd have to drag a ring through security, etc. Plus, our dating anniversary is February 11th (3 days after our vacation ended), so I thought it could be then too.

Lo and behold, he surprised me with lunch in Cinderella's Castle on the second full day of our trip. I was having a great time just being there (we had a great table overlooking Fantasyland). When it came time for dessert, our server brought out a giant domed platter and revealed a glass slipper on a bed of rose petals! FH got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so surprised, even though I obviously knew we were getting married. It was so perfect.

We were out of town in Buffalo, NY for a service for FH’s grandparents. His grandmother had passed a few months before in Michigan, but her final resting place was with grandpa in NY. We had gone to Niagra Falls the day before and I was convinced if we were getting engaged on the trip it was then. I was pretty disappointed when he didn’t ask. The next day we went to the service and to a hotel for lunch, family time, and to celebrate grandma and grandpa. I was sitting outside with FH’s mom by the fire pit on the rooftop when he insisted I go inside to get a drink. I stood up but did not at all want to go get a drink (it was way too crowded). As I was in the middle of telling him why I was not going to do this, he got down on one knee. He didn’t even get a full sentence out before I asked “what are you doing” and then “whose ring is that”. He said “yours if you’ll take it” then instant tears. He had kept it a secret from everyone except his aunt (who had the ring) so everyone was in total shock. It was perfect!

We had been together just over 2 years and had talked about it a million times. I thought it was never going to happen because there were so many times I thought "this is the perfect time for him to propose" but he never did so I stopped expecting it. Lol

Last July, friends of ours invited us to a picnic at their house. We did this quite a bit so it didn't seem like anything special. My bestie and my sister and brother-in-law were going to be there too (BIL is in the army and they were visiting from out of town). My bestie accidentally said something to me that made me ask if he was going to propose and she assured me he wasn't. She's never lied to me so I believed her. Apparently everyone there knew it was going to happen but me.

A couple of hours (and drinks) later, we're eating dinner and I hear my favorite song playing (which was weird because these people don't listen to the same music as me lol). My bestie was talking so I was shushing her when someone else grabbed my attention to look the other way to see my FH on his knee with a ring box. I gasped then smacked my friend for lying to me (lol) and he asked and I said yes! He told me later he had planned on saying more than he did but was so nervous all he could think to say was will you marry me. I couldn't have asked for a better surprise. 🥰

For my 50th birthday, I wanted to do something really fun, that I had never done before, so I planned a long weekend in Las Vegas. We had soooooo much fun!! I had planned a bunch of activities in advance, including my birthday dinner at Hell's Kitchen! I'm a HUGE fan of the show, and so is FH, so we thought it would be really cool to have dinner in the restaurant, and see the head chef, as we had rooted for her to win the whole previous season.

I really had no idea the proposal might happen then. We had talked about getting married, and had even looked at rings the week before, but this was my birthday trip, so it never even entered my mind that FH would turn it into a proposal! It was amazing!!
