I love Monday weddings... They are usually cheaper and guests who really want to be there will find a way to get there.

First, I’d suggest doing research on the typical wedding price in your area. I swore I could have a wedding for $2,000 lol. But, I live in Philadelphia and $2,000 doesn’t even scratch the surface. Once you realize the typical budget, see what you can afford. Next, consider what the venues offer and if it meets your needs:
Does it come with catering? Appetizers? Cocktail hour? Open Bar? Do they offer tables, linens and chairs? Centerpieces? Do they provide staffing, a maitre d? What’s their minimum and maximum occupant? Friday and Sunday weddings are cheaper. Do they offer or recommend vendors like DJs and officiants? Can they hold both a reception and ceremony? How many hours do they provide? Are they buffet or seated plates?

    I hope this helps.

Things like parks and community centers tend to be cheaper for venues or as pp mentioned doing an off day that isn't Saturday is better for price

To save money I decided to have my wedding in a smaller city. My grandparents are from a small country town so I decided to have my wedding their at the community house. The venue is bigger than the ones in the city and $2,000 dollars cheaper. I found a caterer there that will prepare food for $6 pp which includes our choice of meat and two sides. A decorator that dos phenomenal work and she's charging $1500. The baker there is charging $250 for our cake. So basically I saved money but not having it in the city.

I’m not really sure exactly what you’re saying, but I did get that you want to get married in IL. We are getting married in the suburbs of Chicago and are having a difficult time staying under $25k. I think you would be very hard pressed to find a place in the suburbs, and an even harder time in the city to make a smaller budget work. Anything is possible though! Figure out how many people you want to invite and then go from there. We saved thousands getting married on May 2nd because we got off season pricing, you can save even more if you choose a Sunday over a Friday or Saturday night. You could also save with a brunch wedding. And a venue that requires 200 people is probably going to put you way over in budget anyways, so you should really be looking at smaller more intimate spaces. Is 5,000 for the venue or total?

If you really search you will find hidden gems and they won’t be too pricey, family owned places seem to be more budget fitting than larger known places.. I would set up meeting with places you are interested in and see how you can finagle it to work with your budget - look at gardens, parks, Call local banquets and sometimes you’ll be suprised at how they can work with you to make it all come together and not go over your budget

We wanted a budget friendly yet classy wedding so we had an 11am ceremony followed by a lunch reception, no dance. The liquor cost was low as it was lunchtime. We had a pro musician playing in the background (we knew him personally so offered a discount) and people loved our wedding!! Have 1 or none attendants. Focus on food, drink and comfortable chairs!! Nothing else really matters!!! Best of luck!

You just need to do a lot of research! It takes more time but there are always some hidden gems! Also you can go to bridal shows and they usually have some deals that you could work with
