How awkward is no music?

Be honest with me y'all. Would you get married without any music? Our venue is gorgeous but they have a strict no music policy. No live setups, DJs or musical equipment allowed because it's a park venue under strict sound ordinances. I'm excited but a little worried. How awkward will it be with no tunes?

Fyi, my friend volunteered to sing for our first dance and father/daughter dance. They said she can sing without backup or sound amplification so we'll have our dances after all. I'm hoping it's enough to scratch that musical itch so to speak. I'm a little scared to walk down the isle with nothing. Will that be weird? It's a long walk.

We're discussing both options at the moment. Full reception will be a lot of singing for her, especially unaccompanied.

Yeah that would be a lot for one person to handle. With your wedding a month away it doesn't sound like you'd be able to change venues. What is your plan for the ceremony? I know when my bridal party practiced walking down the aisle at the rehearsal we had to keep telling them to slow down because there was no music during rehearsal to help keep them on pace.

I'm not sure I'm understanding the question.

For your ceremony are you planning on you and your bridal party (if you have one) just walking down the aisle in silence? I think that would make it difficult for all of you to stay on pace and not walk either too fast or too slow.

Yes we don't really have a choice to have music

I hope it goes okay, but since you asked yes I do think it will be awkward having absolutely no music/noise at the ceremony.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you nervous. The only thing you can do at this point is go with it unless you want to scramble and find a new ceremony venue.

I would check and maybe you already have or know, but will they let you use a microphone the ceremony for your officiant to talk and you to do your vows? I ask because I went to a wedding once where the sound machine stopped working so did the entire ceremony without microphones and I barely heard what anyone said because we were seated near the back.

That's interesting. Did that ceremony also have music?

Yes, the sound machine stopped working midway through so they had music everyone's entrance. I don't remember what they did about their exit. I want to say the dj was messing with the sound system to get it fixed. I just remember having a very difficult time hearing anything said during the ceremony.

Unfortunately it poured and it was an outdoor wedding at their house so all dancing was cut short because the driveway and grass were soaking wet.

I wouldn't mind the ceremony without music. But....the reception, for me would be a must have music. Hope everything turns out great.

I wonder if the policy is regarding electric or amplified instruments? We worked with a solo violinist who was very professional. The seating music was lovely and the ceremony music was perfect. Even the venue owner joined us at the cocktail hour to complement the music!

The restriction seems to be against acoustic instruments too. Maybe the person seeking this restriction found too many ways that the sound could be louder than desirable, even with guitars.
