How are you letting guests know where they are sitting for the reception?

We are having assigned tables for the reception (not assigned seats). I would love to just say everyone sit where ever they want but there are a couple problems with this for our specific family and friends. We are having assigned tables for the reception (not assigned seats). I would love to just say everyone sit where ever they want but there are a couple problems with this for our specific family and friends. Some people we are inviting just can't be near each other and we don't want it to be awkward for people to find a table. I know everyone will get up and mingle anyway but for dinner purposes I just want to try and make things smooth. Those of you that have seating charts, what are you doing to let people know where they sit? Is it an actual chart, someone leading people to tables, or some kind of place card? I could use some idea please.

Question, are the barnyard animals in place of numbers? Like you named your tables after the animals?
Like if I were to do this, I'd put "Zachary Smith Table 4"?

The stickers are for meal choices! Chicken, beef, and vegetarian. The table numbers are on the inside, you can see it on the top 2 rows of cards that are more open.

They were laid out on a table upon entrance with our guest book, card box, etc. It didn't really matter to me whether people actually knew they were the favors. I just need them to know they were the escort cards and bottle openers! After the first few people grab them, everyone else seemed to go for them as well. We just had someone near the entrance who started the ball rolling. Then, when it came to the skeleton key party, people found out mainly via word of mouth..

As per the popularity, everyone took then, and they all went home (except for the people who couldn't attend). The left overs went to the gallery owner, bartender, then hubby and I got one.

I'm going to hang mine at the entrance. I just wasn't sure if I should make a cute sign or something like "the key to your seat...and drink! Also, take me home!"

We are having a destination wedding and I elected to put the seating arrangement in the wedding program and place cards at each table seat. Some of the guest are children, some have seafood allergies, and some are vegetarian. I did this to assure the proper meal goes where it is supposed to.

I’m planning to give succulents as wedding favor (apart from the photo booth pictures) but it will also serve as an escort card (additional decor too). I read at some forums that these kind of favors might get left behind so if their name is written there then they are more inclined to take them.

We’re using this concept to name the tables with baseball line up cards. Tables will be numbers instead of stadium names. Smiley smile

As a guest and bride I prefer escort cards.
It allows your guests to claim their seats at the assigned tables in case they want to mingle or leave to get a drink/have a bathroom break.
We had ours laid out in alphabetical order on a table just outside the ballroom so people could find their tables when they went in.

We are doing escort cards. We'll have a table to set them up on and people will find their name and proceed to their table. If you don't want to do separate cards, you can just make a board of some kind with a list of the tables by number and each guest listed under the number they will sit at. Then your guests can find their name on the board.

We are using escort cards with individual's names and their assigned table. I've seen seating charts (like a large poster board on an easel) at weddings too.

My venue has 2 options for displaying assigned tables- either by table number and then listing the names, or listing names alphabetically with the table numbers following. Personally I like the alphabetical ones, because it will make things easier and faster for guests. After that, I'm leaving it up to the guest to figure out seats with whomever they're sitting with.
