How are you incorporating kids

How are you incorporating children into your ceremony? I’ll have two ring bearers, my nephews ages 1 and 1.5 and they’ll be escorted by my mom. Are you having flower girls or junior groomsmen or bridesmaids? Are they helping with the guestbook or doing readings or walking you down the aisle?

We definitely are. We are both 40 and my kids are a huge part of our life. With all of our friends and siblings having children of all different ages our wedding is very family oriented. Before COVID hit our reception had 175 guests and 25 of them were kids under the age of 13.

Thanks! I'm trying to keep it lighthearted and fun, but they still made me cry when I read them!

The majority of kids we are inviting are preteens and older. I might ask a couple cousins to act as ushers. Beyond that, it's undecided. The officiant will be doing any readings, etc. No plans for a flowergirl or ringbearer and they aren't customary in our social circles anyway.

As a kid, I was a guestbook attendant at countless weddings and also helped out in the kitchen with setting up dessert tables and cleanup. Full dinners were not done in favor of cake and punch only.
It's a know your crowd type thing.

I was originally going to have 2 ring bearers and 3 flower girls and 1 jr bridesmaid. However, after a lengthy discussion, it wasn't what we wanted. MY MOH daughter is my flower girl. She is one of my oldest friends. My nephew is our ring bearer. My future SIL is going to be 12 at the time of the wedding. I initially thought maybe she would be a junior bridesmaid, my FH didn't have an attachment to that idea and I didn't want a huge bridal party. So I am including her and my future BIL (15) by making them ushers. My brother is going to have another baby by then, so my future niece or nephew is going to be pulled down the aisle in a wagon by my ring bearer.

Honestly, these were all tricky decisions for me. I wanted to include the other kiddos (cousins on his side) but it was just going to be a lot of money. This can be a tricky thing and people's feelings get hurt. I was able to avoid that but approach with caution.
