Okay you wonderful WW people.. FH & I are gettin married soon, & because of our beliefs we don't live together yet, nor have we ever shared a bed (except for naps of courseSmiley winking)! Anyway, the man snores & it sounds like a chainsaw! Or a train choo chooin down the tracks. Basically, he snores & it is LOUD. His parents & siblings told me that he would snore so loud that they would be woken up by his noisy nostrils from a room away, go into his room, slap him around until he woke up, & tell him to quiet it down! Haha His best friend told me that when he & their friends would hang out & FH would fall asleep & snore they would literally have to punch him to get him to wake up & stop snoring... why Lord?!. I have trouble falling asleep as it is, & am a really light sleeper! I don't know how I'm gonna deal. I have thought about ear plugs, but I've got a Daith piercing & putting headphones in is super uncomfortable so I'm not a fan of that option.. does anyone else deal with a snorer?! This is mo

As crazy as this may sound, you'll get used to it. My Fiance snores so bad sometimes that I kick him to wake him up LOL. After some time though I just got used to it to the point where I wake up because its just too quiet.

Have him checked out. He may need a sleep study. CPAPs are less noisy (especially the newer models) than snoring and people feel way more rested when they need one (and actually comply with wearing one).

    .... I'm a respiratory therapist, lol.

I think you're on the right track with having him see a Dr.

My FH snores as well. Most days it is bearable, but when it is not I usually just roll him over.

My husband sores. It can be loud but not always. We ended up buying a new mattress because we needed one. We were sold on the adjustable base to the bed that can lift the head and legs. Anyways ever since we bought that his snoring has almost completely stopped!!!!

FH and I have been together for a decade- He just randomly started snoring and I didn't know what to do. It was SO BAD! lol- I looked up every home remedy and solution in on the internet- I even rubbed Thyme oil on his feet before bedtime LOL- Luckily for me it wore off- must have been a seasonal thing since we just moved back to NOLA but i was terrified for my beauty sleep!

I'm not really any help but I just had to share. Def have him see a doctor. Maybe also try humidifiers and essential oils?

Seconding all the PP about seeing a doctor about sleep apnea. It can cause major health and memory issues depending on how bad it is.

I snore, not sleep apnea, but bad enough it was causing issues for FH and I would wake up to him on the couch to get away from me Smiley sad

    Earplugs were a Godsent.

My dad used to snore so loudly , we'd hear it through 2 doors and down a 30 ft hallway! Basically his doctor told him he had sleep apnea and told him to lose weight. He lost the weight (over 40 lbs) still snores a bit but waaayy less than he used. My FH went to the doctor recently and they told him the same thing. I guess weight has something to do with it too??

I agree with PPs. If it's that bad there is probably a medical condition behind it that he needs to get taken care of. My dad snores pretty bad. Always has, because he is allergic to a lot of different things, so there's always something making it hard for him to breath. My mom eventually just got used to it. I hope he can get it taken care and you can both get some good rest!

On a side note, it's always nice to meet other couples that have chosen to wait :-). I figure if he doesn't love me enough to wait for me, why should I think he will love me enough to stay with me and work through problems when they arise?

I told FH that it might be a good idea to go see a doctor and you know what he said to me...?!

    "No" lol.

but we talked more about it and he said he would go because he loves me and doesn't want to risk me being a cranky wifey for the rest of our lives. Whata peach. Smiley winking

Thanks for all the helpful advice!

@Willbewilkins agreeeeed!!! Everyone views it differently, but we just strongly believe that waiting is one of the best things a couple can do, and for a lot of different reasons! It's really important to us Smiley smile but not everyone believes that, and that's all good.

Definitely have him see a doctor especially if he is extremely tired from not sleeping. It can lead to more severe health problems and could be life saving if he sees one. Good luck!

He should see an ENT specialist. Or invest in some ear plugs or a sound machine, sometimes that can drown out the sound. My FH snores and it really really get bad when he drinks, so be warned about that. A doctor is his best bet though, he could get fitted for a mouth guard or they can do a sleep study to make sure he doesn't have sleep apnea or any other more serious problems.

My roommate in college had sleep apnea and I wanted to murder her. I didn't sleep for 4 months, unless I was able to take naps while she was in class. You could hear her through 3 closed doors and in the dorm hallway but wouldn't use a machine. There's no getting used to it if it's like that, sorry.

My fiancee was a heavy snorer too. He ended up seeing his doctor and purchasing a mouthpiece online for about 90 bucks which eliminated his snoring completely. It shifts his jaw somehow and comes with a little key for adjustment. Works like a charm.

I wear ear plugs every night to fall asleep. Most nights at least one falls out and I stay asleep so I think I have just gotten used to the snoring.

He may want to talk to his Dr. about possibly having a sleep study done. Snoring is a sign of sleep apnea. Which if left untreated can cause CHF, hypertension, diabetes, depression, and the list goes on. Depending on how severe over a period of time, it gradually gets worse. I set people up on their cpap, and bipap machines. And work very closely with our Respiratory therapist and our dr's . Should really have it looked into

And FYI cpap machines are very quiet. Id much rather hear the hum of the machine and know that my FH is breathing. And will help extend his life. You literally stop breathing completely or partial with sleep apnea. And depending how bad it is can cause o2 levels to drop drastically.
