How Am I Gonna Survive?!

Lunden, on May 26, 2017 at 4:51 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 51

Okay you wonderful WW people.. FH & I are gettin married soon, & because of our beliefs we don't live together yet, nor have we ever shared a bed (except for naps of courseSmiley winking)! Anyway, the man snores & it sounds like a chainsaw! Or a train choo chooin down the tracks. Basically, he snores & it is LOUD. His parents & siblings told me that he would snore so loud that they would be woken up by his noisy nostrils from a room away, go into his room, slap him around until he woke up, & tell him to quiet it down! Haha His best friend told me that when he & their friends would hang out & FH would fall asleep & snore they would literally have to punch him to get him to wake up & stop snoring... why Lord?!. I have trouble falling asleep as it is, & am a really light sleeper! I don't know how I'm gonna deal. I have thought about ear plugs, but I've got a Daith piercing & putting headphones in is super uncomfortable so I'm not a fan of that option.. does anyone else deal with a snorer?! This is mo

Has he seen a doctor for his snoring?

You get used to it. my FH fell on his face and broke some of it forever ago and had a plate in it. It took a little while to get used to it. Some days are better than others. It won't be that bad. Sometimes I nudge him and he stops and I go back to sleep before he starts again. It's no biggie

FH snores most nights and I'm a light sleeper. We almost always sleep in separate rooms. If I fall asleep before him or if he happens not to snore, we successfully sleep in the same room haha

Sounds like he might have sleep apnea. Its very commom in those that snore and loud. Have him get it checked out. Not that you will want a CPAP machine running all night. Snoring is no fun to deal with. Good luck

He could start by taking responsibility. He needs to see a doctor.

My FH snores so bad it sounds like a damn airplane is landing in the bedroom. Usually if I can get him to roll over onto his left side, it's bearable. Maybe position changing is worth a shot? Good luck, there is NOTHING worse (to me) than not getting sleep!

See a Dr. if he has sleep apnea he isn't getting as rested as he should either probably.. when my FH snores it's only when he is EXHAUSTED .. I try adjusting his position, like propping his pillow up Or turning his head to clear his airway and then he stops

No one snores as loud as my fh!

Has he seen his dr? There are often medical reasons for the snoring.

Also buy ear plugs!!! I sleep with them in EVERY NIGHT. Lol

I wish you luck once you move in together. You'll want to smother him with a pillow or as I call it a "killow" every night but then you realize how much you'd miss him.

Take out your piercing and use ear plugs. Problem solved. What's more important to you- sleeping well or your piercing?

    Or sleep in separate rooms.

I just shake him a little bit and he rolls over and it stops. For a while. Haha. He does it to me too because apparently I'm just as bad.

Seriously though he talked me into buying a set of those "My Pillows" you see advertised all the time on tv and BOTH of us have virtually stopped snoring altogether! Might be worth a try.

ETA the pillows have different fill levels depending on your sleep type, shirt size, etc. it's not a one size fits all kind of deal

Thank you so much everyone!! I'll have to get his stubborn butt into the Doctor to check it out!! He's definitely not been getting enough rest.. poor guy is always tired. Maybe I'll just have to suck it up and do ear plugs if comes down to it! I love him like no other, but snoring... it'll be the death of both of us haha.

The best thing that my husband has ever done for me was go to a specialist and get a cpap machine. No more snoring!

Just a suggestion regarding Beths suggestion, a humidifier is a good idea but make sure you clean it often otherwise black mold grows in it and causes an issue. Also, use distilled water, especially if you have hard water. We had a weird white film on objects in our room. You could wipe it off it was weird. Come to find out we have hard water with a lot of minerals in it and that white film was the humidifier. So lesson learned, distilled water.

It's definitely worth a trip to the doctor just to rule it out. Sleep apnea can cause major health issues if left untreated.

My husband snored like crazy first two years I was so sleep deprived I would wash down melatonin with Zquill!!!! Lol. Fast forward, he saw a Dr a few years back and WELLAH he's had a CPAP machine that you can't hear much at all and he sleeps like a baby.....a QUIET one and so do I now!!! Haha. His BP is lower and overall health much improved. Sleep apnea can be dangerous if you have it bad. I'de suggest his seeing a specialist for sure there's alot to gain nothing to lose! :+)

They're not perfect but what also helped my fiance with his snoring are those BreathRite Nose Strips (in addition to new/better pillows)

If these and the humidifier don't help go to a doctor.

@Madelyn.. I do love my sleep! buuuuut that little piercing has lessened the migraines I've been suffering from for the past 5 years.. so I kinda want to keep it haha. I'd rather have less sleep than have awful migraines every day!
