Hotel Logistics...

Maltese, on December 9, 2014 at 12:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

So Lucy's thread had me thinking...we're planning on staying at a hotel on the wedding night (we have a shuttle reserved to take back and forth the 4 miles from the reception to the hotel as needed). The day before I will be staying at my mom's house where all the girls will be getting ready for the wedding (1pm ceremony; 5pm reception) and FH will be at his parent's house (more than likely) only a mile away with the GM...

Now I'm trying to figure out how we should #1: get a car to the hotel so we aren't stranded or dependant on anyone to pick us up the next morning and #2 check into the hotel

I've been thinking about this also. Can you stop by the hotel real quick on the way to the venue to check in and leave your car and then have someone else take you the rest of the way? Or can your FH since his primping will decidedly take less time?

So, one of us will stay at hotel if we aren't living back at our location. For the car, just drive it over the day before and have someone take you back, so it's already there or have FH take it over first thing in the morning and check into the hotel at the same time.

I was thinking about this as well and decided that the girls and I will just get ready at the hotel, so the girls will just check in quick at some point. I have already discussed and they said that an early check in is fine because of the situation. You have remember though that if the BM and GM are staying they need the check into the hotel as well, so you do need to make arrangements for all of that. My suggestion is plan a time for the guys to go over and a certain time the girls will run over and just get everyone check in and their stuff in their rooms, so they don't have to worry about it afterward.

@Jillian...the exact reason I am questioning and thinking about what to do...I do have an OOT bridesmaid who will be staying at the hotel with her husband, maybe the local BM's and I (since most have husbands as GM) could drive our cars there and have her husband drive us back to my moms.

Getting ready in the hotel was my original thought, but my mom REALLY wanted us to be at her house and it does give us a lot more room, so now I'm starting to agree with her

Ugh, good luck with this one. I'm struggling with a similar issue too. I'm staying the night before in the hotel where we're getting married... which is an hour away from where the reception is and where we live. Deciding to stick my head in the sand for a while yet!

My ex husband had to handle this for one of his friends who got married. As a member of the bridal party, he drove the groom's car over to the hotel and was picked up by another bridal party member so that the B&G would have their car after the wedding.

I am having a hot mess hotel situation too. I have to stay the night before because check in isn't until 3 and that just wouldn't work with a 5PM ceremony. I guess I will just have my car there even though it's $32/night for parking. So irritating that it's going to cost over $700 but it's a block away from the venue so I don't really have to worry about transportation.

If you get stuck without a car, can you do uber or a taxi? Might not be the most glamorous but that's my back up plan for anything. Good luck!

I let H figure this one out. I don't have any idea how his car got to the hotel or how he got from the hotel to the venue. He had a lot less to do the day of the wedding so I put it on his plate.
