Hot CHocolate bar and or Smores bar

Alessandra301, on March 9, 2016 at 4:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

I am having a wedding at the end of October was thinking about doing one of these. I was wondering has anyone done like a Hot Chocolate or Smores type station or bar at their wedding? If so how did it go over and how much did it cost?

I'm not sure about costs, but it's definitely and additional expense Smiley smile Love the specialty bars and think they are super fun!

If I had to choose between the two I think I'd go with smores!

We had a hot chocolate, smores, and coffee bar! It was a hit! So much fun and delicious!

We wanted to make sure we had more than enough for each guest. We bought A LOT! For everything, probably around $500 or so.

We're doing a Smores bar at the end of the night because our venue is outdoors and will include a fire pit.

I've been to an event with a smores bar and it was awesome, that's what I would choose!

We also did a s'mores bar since our venue let us have a fire pit outside. Everyone loved it and had a great time making s'mores. We did three kind of marshmallow (original, coconut, and chocolate) and three kinds of chocolates (regular hersheys, reese's cups, and ghiradelli dark chocolate caramel sea salt squares).

Edit: Adding some advice in on cost. Altogether it was about $150. Regular jetpuff marshmallows are very cheap (they sell several varieties). We bought them and the chocolate at walmart. My parents bought a firepit for themselves on black friday for $50, which we ended up using. I bought 50, 2-foot skewers on amazon for $20. Then I got all of the jars at good will and chalkboard signs at Michaels. I really wish I had a pic to share, but the photographers didn't take one.

I'd definitely do s'mores over hot chocolate.

FH and I are getting married the day after you! We are doing a SMORES wedding favor. Probably cheaper than have a bar.

My venue does a s'mores bar as an add on. I tried it at the tasting and it was fun. They charge $6 per person.

Our venue has the option for a s'mores bar, but I'm planning on doing s'more favors, so I'm on the fence. It seems like a ton of fun, especially if there's a fire pit!

How warm is it in your area at that time. I feel like it has to be pretty chilly for a smore's bar to work. I went to a wedding in Indiana the first week of September this year and they had a smore's bar. It was blistering hot during the day, and although it cooled down at night, it was still not cold. I don't think 1 smore was made.

I was a BM several years ago in a wedding that had a hot chocolate bar (the bride was all about her hot chocolate!) and the overall vibe about it from the guests was that it was a lot of fun. I, personally, was stuffed after I had my slice of cake, so I didn't try the hot chocolate, but I know many guests loved it. It was available when the dancing started after cake had been served and eaten.
