Hostess Gifts for Pre-wedding events

RJmargo, on March 6, 2016 at 8:51 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

So my shower and bachlorette are coming up in a few weeks and I'm trying to figure out hostess gifts. I have three people I plan to get gifts for and they are all people I am also giving gifts to at the RD.

Did you give the hosts gifts right after the pre-wedding events or did you add in something extra with the gifts you gave at the rehearsal dinner? I was kind of thinking of maybe sending them something when I sent out thank you notes for the shower, but wasn't sure if that would be weird.

You don't need to give a separate hostess gift to your bridal party for your shower or bachelorette party. Etiquette and standard practice goes the gift you give at the RD is enough. However, if someone other than your bridal party is hosting these events, you should give them a gift. If a mix of bridal party and non-bridal party are hosting, I can see how you would want to give a little something to your bridesmaids in addition to the gift you give them at the RD. You should give hostess gifts on the day of or within a week after the event. Some suggestions: favorite bottle of wine, flowers, a nice candle, chocolates, bath/body works type products, etc. A personalized, thoughtful thank you note is also necessary!

I got my bridesmaid who hosted my bridal shower a nice bottle of wine and her favorite candle from anthropologie.

I got to the shower alittle early and gave it to her then.

And then I also wrote her a thank you note which I mailed with the rest of my shower thank you notes. (& thanked her in person multiple times for everything)

She was so sweet to host. Smiley smile

Thanks for the advice! Sounds like I can do any of the ideas I was thinking.

I never thought of a good candle! My thoughts are always on wine. Haha. Good idea!
