Hornblower vs Electra vs pacific Avalon weddings

Rubylicious, on December 17, 2017 at 2:39 AM Posted in Planning 0 2

Anyone have recommendations or words of warning in comparison of these companies for a cruise wedding?

Thanks

I say carnival? But I'm biased as I used to work for them sort of ( I did outsourced customer service and they do bend over backwards for you. Worked during the hurricane s). But of those three never heard of them sorry

I haven’t heard of Avalon but I would book with hornblower over Electra. Electra was awful with getting back to me with quotes. Literally they never responded. I wrote emails and made phone calls and nothing ever happened. We toured hornblower and while it was nice, we decided to go a different direction. I think we toured endless dreames. Key takeaways:: 1) they advertised a bridal suite with champagne and brunch and when I asked about the bridal suite, our tour guide said, “well....it’s very small. We always recommend you get ready somewhere else and the change here. 2) the most expensive wedding package was five hours for the ceremony and reception (and the more reasonably priced was four). five hours for ceremony (30 min), cocktail hour (1 hr), and reception (3.5 hr) and we thought that was cutting it close. 3) It’s either a pro or con depending on you specifically but they include a cake and an officiant and a DJ in all their packages and I believe they include florals in all but one of their packages. Obviously, catering and alcohol is handled onboard. 4) There’s public parking across the street but you have to buy out all the spots if you want guests to park there (major issue for us on Labor Day weekend). 5) The ships all got renovated last year when I was looking at them (March 2017). We ultimately didn’t.end up booking with them with them because their smallest ship was too small for our guest count and the next step us was way too big, they only had Sunday available, we wanted a six hour ceremony and reception, and we wanted outside vendors. Also, we assumed the cruise wouldn’t leave on the dot at the time we were supposed to start so we were worried it would cut into dancing time. we had at least five or six guests who missed the ceremony so had we done the boat, it would have been a logistical nightmare. (They do offer to turn the boat around after dinner and dock to let anyone off who wants to go and then they turn back around). However if you’d like a venue that includes most elements of a wedding, you should definitely go for it. Staff was very professional and the boats were all just basically made new. Although it’s a bit different, my mom hosts corporate parties with them all the time and she’s never heard a complaint about food, staff, the bar, etc. would definitely recommend over Electra!
