Hoop skirt or petticoat?

Hollie S., on June 30, 2016 at 7:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

I have a question for all brides out their I'm trying to decide what will look best with my dress and what will work better. When I tried on my dress they had me put on 3 petticoats and to be honest that would be alot of money for something that will go under the dress and not even be seen. Below is a pic of my dress without anything under it. I already have my dress at home and it doesn't need any my alterations thankfully. So I'm looking for input as to which would you choose?

I think a hoop skirt would be too much

Ya I'm tossed between if I need/want something under or if I should just not get anything or something light. I'm wearing flats because I'm already a little taller than FH so I'm not worried about length that much

Hoop skirts are a PITA with doors.

I have that dress as a second dress. I just use the ball gown crinoline. It works very well.

I just want something so it doesn't fall flat and you lose the detailing on the front

I do see where the more you add the shorter it will get. So it seems like a hoop skirt is definitely out of the question

Personally, I think the dress is a lot more flattering on you without anything under it.

Agree with Cassidy, I think it looks great on its own!

I agree it looks nice as-is. Maybe a smaller petticoat just for some fullness, but I think a hoop would be too much.

I have a hoop petticoat. The hoops are adjustable and can be made smaller, but they keep the dress away from my legs a little, and I love it. It's very flexible for doors, dancing, etc.

I don't think you need it, but you could get a one or a two hoop hoopskirt just to help it maintain its shape. They won't poof out much at all, but it'll give you the extra something that the three petticoats do. I buy all my hoopskirts on Amazon. (I wear costumes that require them ;-) )

I think it looks good without the petty coat. All depends on how big you want your gown.

I had this question and I wasnt sure about it either. I bought a layered no hoop one off ebay for $20 with shipping. I just figured its cheap enough to play with. If its too big I could remove a layer.

I think yours looks good without it. Mine looks a little deflated

Thank you everyone for all the advice I think I'm just going to go with a small petticoat just to poof it a little so you can see the detailing design on the front. I wanted a extreme poof before but after looking at the pictures long and hard I decided that I really like the smaller poof better. I'm an indecisive bride and can never make up my mind on anything with out having a million opinions Smiley smile but you all have been a great help and I appreciate your responses
