Honeymooning

Loretta, on June 3, 2019 at 11:05 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 7

I have no idea where to even begin with our honeymoon, part of me wants to do a weekend getaway at first then do a big honeymoon later in the year since we are paying for our wedding ourselves. The other part of me wants to go ahead and do a big one. Any ideas, or tips?

I actually just realized like two days ago that we chose a wedding date that will be in the middle of a class I must complete for my new job (clearly wedding Brain already, is that a thing? 🤣😂) So we are going to make our wedding weekend a non-stop party of love and laughter with our closest friends and will have to wait for the honeymoon for another month or so based on our work schedules. Unconventional but oh well! 🤷🏽‍♀️ We do want to do something fancy in Asia though like the Maldives or something.

I like the idea of the weekend away. You could also turn your delayed honeymoon into an epic 1-year wedding anniversary celebration!

Doing minimoons and then a delayed honeymoon are extremely popular. Personally, I like the idea of doing it right after because, for me, I know it would just feel like a regular vacation and not a honeymoon celebration if it was delayed. However, if you don't have the time or money right after the wedding, just take the weekend and plan the big thing for later!

A honeymoon right after the wedding was important to us. So the honeymoon was part of our overall budget. We've been on vacations together before and I wanted the honeymoon to be distinct from those and future ones. However if you don't have the funds for it, a mini moon with a delayed bigger trip totally makes sense. You just have to prioritize what's most important. If you have a particular want for the wedding, spend money there. Everyone's must haves are different.

Totally nothing wrong with postponing a big honeymoon! You'll have more time to save for a honeymoon you really want!

We're doing a 5-day minimoon right after the wedding to unwind. A few months later we're going to combine our full honeymoon and FHs birthday in Iceland.

Hi Loretta! Have you decided what you will do for your honeymoon? Will you have a weekend getaway followed by a big honeymoon later in the year?
