Honeymoon Wedding Registry

Mariah, on September 17, 2019 at 1:35 PM Posted in Registry 0 8

My FH and I already live together and need very minimal house things. Is there anyway we can make a honeymoon fund? We basically would like money opposed to different gifts. We are planning to use this to help pay for the wedding and the honeymoon!

I wasn't sure if Honeyfun was safe or not! Or how it even works.

    Hi Mariah!

You can definitely make a honeymoon fund. I did one with Disney but I'm hearing some honeyfund sites have fees which I never even knew myself so I'm checking that our right now. How they work is you get to create your registry like any other and (at least with mine) you can set it up to where they can transfer the funds bank to bank or send you a check.

I saw someone else actually mention paypal transfers as well and you would just mention why you would prefer that option. At least with the registry, they would see what you're asking for and can send it to you. If your guests aren't comfortable with that, more times than not, they will either bring the cash or check with them to your wedding.

Honeyfund is a site where you can list different things and guests send you money that is directly deposited into your bank account with the site taking out a fee. I’m not sure you would be able to use this to pay for the honeymoon or wedding as those things need to be paid in advance. If you take a delayed honeymoon it could help but there’s no telling how much you’ll get. In my experience everyone brought cash or check in a card to our wedding.

I just wouldn't register & people will get the hint and gift cash. You'll have to skip a shower, but those aren't required. You'll obviously have to wait to plan your honeymoon or excursions until after the wedding though if the budget is based on what you are gifted.

We didn’t register for any place and therefore when people asked about registry and I told them we didn’t register everyone just gave us money because we have been living together and already have two homes

We used Honeyfund, which is very common in our circles, and had a disclaimer about added fees for certain payment methods. Many of our more savvy guests went for the PayPal or pledge option and gave us a check on the day-of.

I had done mine where I listed activities and people were more inclined to buy those activities vs giving to the general cash fund. I guess because knowing what their money was going to was better than just giving me the money.
