Honeymoon Weather- Really Bummed

FutureMrsCrane, on October 13, 2015 at 6:12 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 17

FH texted me while at work today and told me about the forecast in Mexico next week. It's literally supposed to rain in Riviera Maya every single day. I'm so crushed and deflated. We were really looking forward to it. Smiley sad I'm hoping the weather is sort of unpredictable like when we vacation in Florida (whenever I'm there, the forecasts are usually pretty off).

I just needed to vent somewhere!

I've been to Riviera Maya 3 times and it never rained all day. Usually just for a little bit then it's nice again. Unless there's a big storm coming, I wouldn't worry too much. You're going to have a wonderful honeymoon!

That's actually really good to know! Thank you so much for sharing. You have no idea how much I needed that after these past few days.

Oh, I'm so sorry! Like Lauren said, it may just be a passing rainstorm that won't get you down. And hey, I'm sure you can find something to do inside. ;-)

Hi date twin! We are going to Cancun, Mexico. We were very worried about seeing rain every day in the forecast too ... crushed in fact. But I belong to a forum from the resort we are going to (LeBlanc Spa Resort) ... and everybody said it is in the tropics, there is a chance for showers everyday, quick downbursts and then sun shines for rest of day. They told me pay no mind to the forecast. Don't even look at it!

Haha CatsBoninCats and CBtocL, you both have me cracking up! I've been having a miserable couple days, so thank you for making me smile.

Rhonda, Thank you for sharing that! I can definitely deal with rain showers here and there. I feel so much better. Venting here has done me some good to know that it probably won't rain the entire day!

On top of that - rarely is the forecast a week out actually very accurate. I probably wouldn't look until a day or two prior to leaving. Short rain showers are actually kind of nice!

I thought I would share the forum's conversation with you about our weather concerns in Mexico!

We arrive this Sunday for our honeymoon. We see rain in the forecast? Hopefully means a shower then full sunshine? Yes/No?

Pam Becker We were there last week and only had one late afternoon light shower so don't rely on the forecast. Have a wonderful time. It's a great place for a honeymoon.

Aaron Bulmer It's the tropics, chance for rain everyday. We go 10 days at a time in Sept or October and it rarely rains. Easiest job in Cancun Quintana-Roo is being a meteorologist, humid and always a chance for rain!

Jeanne Schuler We have never had a whole day of rain, even when we arrived at the tail end of a tropical storm. However, Sun Palace was leaking like a sieve! Everything died up quickly, and we had a ball the rest of the week with Andy and Lynn.

If it's anything like Hawaii, rain is in the forecast like every day but there are small little micro-climate that tend to be more rainy and you drive five minutes and it's bone dry. The big resorts are in a more dry part of the island for that reason, so hopefully where you're going it'll be dry where the resorts are. Also in Hawaii it never stays rainy for that long (except sometimes in the winter). Unfortunately El Nino seems to be impacting everyone's vacations this year so you aren't alone. On our honeymoon, our first day in Bora Bora it poured. It was so sad especially because everyone was like "Woah this is our dry season, this NEVER happens!" But when the rain stopped it was still pretty grey but perfect for snorkeling! So if it's raining you'll be wet anyway, may as well get in the water. Unfortunately we chose that destination mostly for the stunning photography options, but with clouds it just doesn't look as great. But we still made the best of it, and after having to get emergency surgery on the honeymoon the bad weather didn't seem so bad in the end. I'm sure you'll still have an amazing time with your amazing new husband!!

I know a bunch of people have already told you not to worry but I figure it can't hurt to hear it from more people.... the forecast down there ALWAYS says rain every day and then in reality it usually isn't more than a quick passing storm with blue skies the rest of the day.

I don't even bother checking anything but the hurricane forecast, which is totally clear as of now!

Stay inside and get funky. Or go in the hot tub in the rain! ...and then go back inside and get funky.

We are going to Riviera Maya the first week of November and I have been frantically checking the weather and freaking out as well. Hoping (like others said) that is is just passing storms. Ugh!

I went to Riviera Maya about 3 years ago and the forecast was the SAME exact way. Also, when I went to Punta Cana this past May. I was so upset, but it never rained more than a few hours one day on either trip.

Same for us...the forecast for Jamaica was rain everyday. There was only one day it rained more than 1 hour. My cousin was on her honeymoon in Cancun last week and it was the same. I think it just is a Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico thing.

And when I was freaking out about rain everyday in Jamaica someone told me, "A rainy day in Jamaica is a better day than a rainy day at home."
